inTechnology names Jason Webb to lead duress shift

Tue, 17th Feb 2026

inTechnology Distribution has appointed Jason Webb as Chief Commercial Officer as it targets growth in real-time location systems and mobile duress products, focusing on organisations moving away from older safety infrastructure.

Webb joins the Australian distributor as customers in healthcare, corrections and other high-risk settings reassess staff safety technologies following the end-of-life of the Bosch Security Escort platform. The change is also increasing pressure on facilities that rely on Wi‑Fi-based duress systems, where location accuracy and coverage can vary with site design and network conditions.

inTechnology is positioning Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1 and Bluetooth Direction Finding as the foundation for next-generation location and duress deployments. These systems can deliver more precise indoor positioning than earlier badge and Wi‑Fi approaches, and can link location tracking with alerting and audit trails.

Enterprise focus

In his new role, Webb will lead commercial efforts across real-time location systems, mobile communications and clinical communication platforms. He will work with enterprise customers and channel partners that sell and deploy systems into government agencies, hospital networks and security-sensitive estates.

He will also lead structured migration pathways from legacy duress infrastructure to BLE 5.1 and Bluetooth Direction Finding platforms, and support channel partners with product positioning, commercial planning and deployment readiness as customers assess replacement options.

The strategy reflects a broader shift in staff safety and security technology. Legacy duress platforms often depend on dedicated infrastructure and older device designs. Many organisations now prefer software-led platforms that integrate with existing mobile devices and security workflows, while still providing the location data and event records required for compliance.

Security background

Webb brings more than 20 years of ICT and telecommunications leadership across defence, mining, government and high-security environments in Australia, the UK and Europe. His experience includes secure communications infrastructure across Royal Air Force bases, Royal Navy facilities, Army sites and classified government estates, as well as operational technology networks and tracking systems used in large mining operations.

That mix aligns with current procurement in healthcare and corrections, where buyers often need physical safety tools, secure network design and clear operational processes. In these environments, location data can also feed incident reporting and governance.

"Jason joins us at a pivotal moment," said Mark Winter, Chief Executive Officer, inTechnology Distribution. "The end of life of Bosch Security Escort creates both urgency and opportunity. Enterprise customers need a clear migration strategy, and our channel partners need strong technical and commercial support. Jason's experience in secure, high-compliance environments makes him ideally placed to support both," said Winter.

Migration planning

Replacement projects in hospitals and custodial settings often require staged roll-outs, parallel running and careful device management. Sites also need to map coverage and accuracy requirements and decide which workflows sit on dedicated wearables versus smartphones or ruggedised mobile devices.

Bluetooth Direction Finding and BLE 5.1-based platforms are now common options for indoor tracking, particularly where organisations want room-level or zone-level location to trigger workflows or speed incident response. These deployments typically use a network of receivers and software to estimate a device's position, rather than relying on Wi‑Fi access points designed primarily for data connectivity.

inTechnology will continue integrating BLE-based RTLS, enterprise mobility devices and intelligent alerting platforms into a single environment for customers in healthcare and corrections. The aim is to link personal safety alerts, device management and location events into a system that operations teams can monitor and audit.

inTechnology operates as a value-added distributor across Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region, working with channel partners selling into healthcare, enterprise and government sectors. Its vendor roster includes Spok, Spectralink, Quuppa and AiRISTA Flow.

Webb said the market shift is forcing decisions on both technology and operating model, particularly for customers with older duress estates.

"In high-risk environments, safety and reliability are critical," Webb said. "The shift from legacy duress systems to BLE 5.1 and Bluetooth Direction Finding represents a major step forward. I'm looking forward to working alongside enterprise customers and channel partners to modernise these environments with scalable, future-ready solutions," he added.
