Ultamation hires Pixel Kicks for new digital platform

Fri, 6th Feb 2026

Ultamation has appointed Manchester digital agency Pixel Kicks to build a new online platform as the UK software engineering specialist shifts further towards a software-services-led commercial model.

Ultamation develops tools and software used in smart homes and commercial buildings, working with manufacturers, installers and end clients on audio-visual and automation projects. The platform forms part of a broader investment in digital infrastructure alongside the change in commercial focus.

Pixel Kicks will deliver the work over four months. The agency now operates under PushON Commerce.

Platform Build

The project covers the design and build of a bespoke WordPress and WooCommerce website, bringing Ultamation's brochure site, B2B eCommerce store and technical support content into a single destination.

Ultamation expects the consolidated setup to simplify customer interactions, supporting product purchases, licence management and access to support materials. It will also provide more detailed insight into customer behaviour and site performance.

Ultamation wants the refreshed site to present its engineering work more clearly, describing it as a response to changes in its offering and customer base as products and partnerships expand internationally.

The brief also points to a wider challenge for specialist engineering firms operating in technically complex environments. Customers increasingly expect clear product information, straightforward self-service and confidence in long-term support. Meeting those expectations can place added demands on digital platforms, particularly where licensing and ongoing service relationships are central to the commercial model.

Ultamation director Emma Hall said the business had outgrown its existing web presence as it moved away from a model centred on project delivery.

"Our existing website no longer reflected the nature of our business as we've moved from project delivery to a software-services model with the same quality, rigour and trust we bring to every project. As our products, partners and international reach continue to grow, we needed a platform that clearly communicates who we are, supports complex licensing and purchasing decisions, and gives customers confidence before conversations even begin. Pixel Kicks understood that immediately and brought a level of care and technical thinking that aligns closely with our own values," Hall said.

Agency Role

Pixel Kicks business development manager Jamie Bray said the work would focus on how Ultamation presents itself online and how the platform supports commercial requirements over time.

"Ultamation is a highly respected engineering business operating in a space where trust, credibility and clarity really matter. This project is about creating a platform that reflects the quality of their work, supports complex commercial requirements, and gives the business the flexibility to grow over time. We're proud to be working with a team that cares so deeply about best practice and craftsmanship," Bray said.

Pixel Kicks is a Manchester-based agency working across website development, eCommerce and digital marketing. PushON is an eCommerce consultancy in the same city. The project will use WordPress for site management and WooCommerce for online sales.

For Ultamation, the key change is connecting parts of the customer journey that were previously separate. Combining the brochure site, store and support hub should reduce repeated steps for customers and partners, and shorten the path from research to purchase where products require licence selection and ongoing access to updates and guidance.

The platform is also intended to improve operational visibility. Usage and purchasing patterns can show what customers search for, which support content they use and where they drop out of buying journeys. That data can inform decisions on product packaging, documentation and service structures.

Ultamation expects the completed site to reduce friction across sales and support and provide a scalable digital base for the next stage of growth.
