All Nippon Airways & Lufthansa trial IATA ONE Order
All Nippon Airways is collaborating with Lufthansa Systems to begin a Proof of Concept for SIRAX/ONE Order, examining the feasibility of using IATA ONE Order-based accounting and settlement for ancillary services not related to flights.
Lufthansa Systems has announced that this partnership with All Nippon Airways aims to explore new avenues in the accounting and settlement processes within modern airline retailing, focusing on non-flight ancillary services. This collaboration positions All Nippon Airways as a forerunner in the airline industry, embracing innovative retailing practices.
Yong Choi, Project Manager of Offers and Orders Transformation at All Nippon Airways, elaborated on the need for transformation in airline retailing: "E-commerce platforms all over the world have changed customers' expectations towards the shopping experience. Today, airline customers ask for personalised communication and a seamless travel shopping experience on any distribution channel that is available when putting together their travel journey."
"Modern airline retailing has to fulfill this demand. It allows us airlines to sell flight- and non-flight related products, such as hotels, car rentals, airport transfers, tour provider services, etc. directly to our customers – all as a one-stop-shop-solution."
SIRAX/ONE Order is highlighted as a financial management solution that can be fully integrated with ONE Order. It aims to streamline finance processes and enhance the airline's capabilities to sell, account for, and track the provision of flight and non-flight-related products and services. The utilisation of the latest technology allows for efficient implementation and maintenance.
Tim Bruegmann, Chief Product Owner of Financial and Commercial Products at Lufthansa Systems, discussed the current challenges facing airline retail processes: "The current distribution processes, such as PNR, e-tickets and EMDs, put restrictions on a modern customer-centric airline retailing approach. SIRAX/ONE Order allows airlines to streamline the accounting and settlement of any type of flight and ancillary services. This way, ANA will be able to provide attractive bundle offers for its customers, who can configure their travel itinerary according to their personal needs including flight- and non-flight ancillaries. SIRAX/ONE Order will therefore provide ANA with additional revenue potential with airline retailing."
As All Nippon Airways embarks on this Proof of Concept with Lufthansa Systems, the endeavour marks a significant step towards modernising how airlines handle customer service and retail offerings, ensuring a more tailored and streamlined approach to air travel.
