Tue, 28th Nov 2023

Fastly, a frontrunner in edge cloud platforms has been recognised as a leader for Edge Development Platforms in the Q4 2023 report from Forrester Wave, an independent research firm.

The firm bestowed the highest rating (5/5) to Fastly's Compute platform in 22 specific evaluation arenas: vision, innovation, roadmap, pricing flexibility, transparency, runtime execution environment, and security features.

The Forrester Wave report stated: "Fastly delivers on its vision for a locationless internet with innovative compute." The Forrester evaluation notes that the "Fastly edge development platform, built on a WASM runtime, focuses primarily on delivering performant, personalised experiences on the web. However, it is also more than suitable for general-purpose use cases. To that end, developers building and deploying applications with Fastly gain the benefit of a fast, programmable CDN with robust security and an excellent developer experience."

"Fastly couples this with a generous, egress-free billing model that makes the platform a better choice than public cloud FaaS platforms for use cases where data might need to move around, such as with AI use cases and IOT."

More so, Fastly's capability is noted in the report as particularly beneficial for enterprises aiming to broaden their capabilities from the public cloud with an edge compute platform that delivers high performance and enhanced security.

"Fastly is an excellent fit for enterprises seeking to extend their capabilities from the public cloud with a highly performant and secure edge compute platform," stated the Forrester report.

Anil Dash, VP of Compute and Developer Experience at Fastly celebrates Forrester's recognition of Fastly Compute, emphasising the platform's unique capabilities in solving unprecedented challenges. After over a decade of development, Dash expresses pride in the team's vision and technical innovation, anticipating exciting creations from developers leveraging the powerful global edge computing platform.

Anil Dash remarked, "We believe the world is ready to see how Fastly Compute can help solve problems no other platform can. We spent more than a decade building Fastly Compute into an unbelievably powerful, incredibly performant global edge computing platform, and we are thrilled Forrester recognised, in our opinion, our vision and technical innovation."

"This recognition is a significant milestone for our team, and we are excited about the amazing things developers will build with us," said Dash.

This recognition places Fastly's Compute platform firmly at the forefront of the industry, rewarding it for its dedication to delivering innovative, performant and secure solutions for its users. Consequently, this will raise expectations for the future offerings and developments of the platform in addressing and resolving industry needs.
