Moonpig launches in Australia with local cards, tech & gifts
Moonpig has commenced operations in Australia, providing local customers access to personalised greeting cards and curated gifts delivered throughout the country.
Having sent over 330 million cards worldwide since starting in the United Kingdom in 2000, Moonpig now offers Australian customers a selection of more than 33,000 card designs, printed locally in Melbourne and Sydney and distributed through Australia Post.
The company stated that its goal is to meet the demand for convenient and meaningful gifting solutions, with new card designs frequently added to the platform. The available catalogue spans a variety of themes, including birthday cards, anniversary messages, photo keepsakes, and other occasions, aiming to provide options that cater to all relationships and events.
Personalisation and technology
Australian customers can now use a range of interactive features designed to enhance personalisation. Prominent among these are the ability to upload photos for customised cards, AI-generated stickers based on user prompts, and a handwriting tool that allows users to digitise their handwriting to feature as a font on future cards via the Moonpig application. Other functionalities include automated reminders for important dates and scheduled delivery, which enables users to prepare and time their cards for specific events.
"We're incredibly excited to bring Moonpig to Australia and make it easier than ever for Australians to send thoughtful, personalised cards and gifts to their loved ones. Whether it's a birthday, anniversary or just because, we know that personal connection matters, and that's what Moonpig is all about. By printing locally and delivering with AusPost, we're able to offer a seamless, affordable, and truly personal service to our customers here."
These comments were made by Mary Liu, International Director at Moonpig, in relation to the platform's official launch in Australia.
Curated local gifts
In addition to its card offering, Moonpig has expanded its curated gift range to the Australian market, collaborating with local businesses and artisans, particularly in Victoria. The range includes items such as flower bouquets and specialised food hampers, enabling customers to send gifts that complement their chosen cards.
Sustainability
Sustainability initiatives have been implemented across all Moonpig markets, including Australia. The company reports that its cards are produced using FSC-certified paper and are labelled as 'Australian Made'. All cards, envelopes, and packaging materials are recyclable and do not contain glitter or other non-recyclable substances. Through a global partnership with Tree-Nation, Moonpig states that it has facilitated the planting of over 300,000 trees to support reforestation and mitigate environmental impact.
Delivery options
With a focus on convenience, Moonpig allows customers to upload contacts, set reminders for key dates, and choose from standard or express tracked delivery options tailored to their needs. The company advises that for significant dates such as Christmas or Mother's Day, customers should allow at least four days for standard delivery and one to two days for express shipping.
