Siemens expands AI-enhanced NX X software to Azure platform

Today

Siemens has announced an amplification of its partnership with Microsoft, making the NX X software available on Microsoft's Azure platform, enhanced with generative AI and copilot features.

This collaboration aims to provide NX X users with advanced AI tools on Azure, integrating capabilities that refine the user experience through natural language assistance. This integration is designed to automate design tasks and facilitate ease of use for both experienced and new users.

Bob Haubrock, Senior Vice President of Product Engineering Software at Siemens Digital Industries Software, stated, "Our customers are continuing to ask Siemens to bring our industry leading industrial software to Azure. Our relationship with Microsoft is now more than 35 years and we are pleased, once again, to expand this collaboration so we can best enable our customers to digitally transform through our joint solutions. Building on the success we are seeing with delivery of Teamcenter X on Azure, we're now expanding to also bring our industry leading NX X product engineering software to the Azure platform."

NX X software on Azure will allow organisations to leverage Microsoft's responsible AI tools and enterprise-grade security, combined with Siemens' engineering software. This follows Siemens' previous integration of Teamcenter X, a PLM software, with Azure earlier this year.

According to Satish Thomas, Corporate Vice President for Business & Industry Solutions at Microsoft, "Microsoft is pleased to expand our long-standing collaboration with Siemens, underscoring AI's role in driving innovation, operational efficiency, and digital transformation in the industrial sector. Through the availability of Siemens' NX X software on Azure and the integration of its adapted AI model, powered by Microsoft Phi-3, into their copilot, Siemens and Microsoft are equipping engineers with cloud-based AI solutions to simplify complex challenges and drive productivity."

Part of Siemens' Xcelerator as a Service portfolio, NX X offers advanced 3D product engineering capabilities in a cloud-based format, easing resource allocation and enabling focus on innovation. The software includes cloud management functionalities and flexible deployment options through Azure, supporting distributed teams with tools like Azure Virtual Desktop.

Furthermore, NX X is enhanced with a new AI capability using Microsoft's Phi-3 language models, aiming to facilitate natural language interactions and streamline complex design tasks. With features like Retrieval-Augmented Generation and Domain Specific Language, the AI enhances the automation of design processes, reduces errors, and accelerates product development pipelines significantly.

Siemens' NX X also aims to provide recommendations, generate code for design automation, and identify problem areas using natural language processing, thereby cutting down on repetitive tasks and potential errors.

This cloud and AI integration also extends NX X's role in Siemens' broader Xcelerator portfolio, aiding in creating more accurate digital twins through its integration across various stages from design and simulation to manufacturing, all managed through Teamcenter X.

NX X on Azure enhances the ability of companies to efficiently manage digital twin processes with reduced errors and faster development times, reflecting the strategic technological collaboration between Siemens and Microsoft.
