Sparta Global wins Kings Award for enterprise social mobility efforts
London-based technology services firm, Sparta Global, has been awarded the distinguished Kings Award for Enterprise. Recognised for its commitment to social mobility, the company is among eight esteemed companies acknowledged in this category.
The Kings Awards for Enterprise, rebranded last year from The Queens Awards for Enterprise, marks exemplary UK businesses on the 58th year of the award's induction. Notably, Sparta Global scored high on its robust social mobility programme, which aids individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to access careers in the tech industry - a sector currently struggling with a significant skills gap.
Sparta Global Co-Founder and CEO, David Rai, emphasised the company's mission, stating, "The circumstances of someone's birth or upbringing should never determine or define their outcomes in life. This is why Sparta Global was founded - to promote and provide equitable access to technology careers, whilst also helping organisations to build talent pipelines populated with diverse people and perspectives."
The company, established in 2015, has grown to employ over 800 people nationwide, specialising in bringing through emerging talent within the tech industry. Offering fully-funded training and salaried positions for its Spartan consultants from the outset, the firm focuses on a variety of sectors including data, software engineering, cybersecurity, and others. In partnership with more than 100 clients, Sparta Global is at the forefront of nurturing talent from diverse backgrounds and offering opportunities to explore tech careers in sectors such as the government, financial services, and professional services.
Rai also acknowledged the award as a testament to the dedication of everyone at Sparta Global to foster social impact, stating, "The prestigious Kings Award for Promoting Opportunity recognises the insatiable appetite of the Sparta Global employees, clients, and investors, to make a sustained social impact and put purpose above profit. I am incredibly proud of the people from under-represented backgrounds forging technology careers with Sparta Global and look forward to seeing them leading organisations in the future."
As part of its growth, Sparta Global has enabled 3000 individuals to initiate their careers in technology. Highlighting the company's commitment to diversity, the Spartan community currently is 31% women, 53% from ethnic minority backgrounds, 42% the first in their family to go to university, and 17% "career changers".
Among its many accolades, Sparta Global is renowned for its fair social mobility practices, including receiving the Princess Royal Training Award 2021 for Equality, diversity and inclusion commendation, ranking 15th in the Social Mobility Index and achieving B Corp certification in 2022.
Sparta Global is the first B Corp certified HTD provider, a top 15 employer for Social Mobility, Princess Royal Training Award winner, and official Women in Tech partner, that now hires, trains, and deploys diverse technology talent to more than 100 public and private sector organisations across the UK and Ireland. The company provides technology training and career opportunities to passionate people from diverse communities irrespective of gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic background.
