Superlab Suisse to open new lab at Campus Biotech Geneva

Yesterday

Superlab Suisse has announced plans to open its fourth Swiss laboratory facility at Campus Biotech in Geneva by early 2026, providing fully serviced laboratories to biotech startups and life science companies in the Lake Geneva region.

The move will complete Superlab Suisse's network of laboratory facilities across Switzerland, with the Geneva site joining existing locations in Lausanne, Basel and Zurich. The latest expansion is intended to meet growing demand in Geneva for flexible, ready-to-use laboratory space, attributed to the region's concentration of life sciences research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Facility details

The new Geneva site will be located within Campus Biotech, a hub dedicated to neuroscience, digital health, and global health. The facility is to offer both private and shared laboratory spaces, as well as on-demand access to shared scientific equipment. Full operational support will be provided, covering biosafety, compliance, and waste management. In addition, tenants will benefit from integrated access to a scientific and entrepreneurial ecosystem and preferential rates with key lab suppliers through an eCommerce platform.

Campus Biotech is home to several institutions and organisations, including EPFL, Université de Genève (UNIGE), the Wyss Center, HUG, FONGIT, Fondation Campus Biotech Geneva (FCBG), and Hepia.

Comments from leadership

Xi Zhang, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Superlab Suisse, discussed Geneva's rising profile in the life sciences sector and the rationale for the new facility. Zhang commented:

"Geneva is rising as one of the most dynamic life science clusters in the world. With global institutions, cutting-edge research, and a fast-growing biotech sector, Geneva is shaping the future of life sciences — and Superlab Suisse is here to build what comes next."

Igor Fisch, Chair of FONGIT and a life sciences entrepreneur, welcomed the expansion into Campus Biotech, highlighting the role of such facilities in supporting innovation in the region. Fisch said:

"Geneva is rapidly becoming a global hub for life sciences, where research and innovation come together. We're proud to support Superlab Suisse's expansion to Campus Biotech, providing startups with access to world-class infrastructure."

Zhang added:

"With capital, talent, and infrastructure aligned, Geneva is positioned for what's next. Superlab Suisse is here to activate that potential."

Strategic context

The Lake Geneva region is often referred to as Switzerland's "Health Valley" due to its concentration of more than 750 life science companies. According to the latest data, Switzerland has maintained the number one ranking on the UN Global Innovation Index for 13 consecutive years and saw a 50% increase in life sciences capital investment in 2024.

Geneva's emergence as a centre for life sciences has been supported by ongoing collaboration between academic institutions, research organisations, and companies, along with increased investment and infrastructure supporting startups in the sector.

Outlook

The opening of Superlab Suisse's Geneva laboratory is scheduled for January 2026, extending operational laboratory space to early-stage and established companies in life science fields. The facility aims to facilitate greater research, entrepreneurship, and sector growth within Geneva and the wider Health Valley region.
