Appsbroker CTS raises EUR €2,105 abseiling for Make-A-Wish

Thu, 13th Jun 2024

Google Cloud transformation experts from Appsbroker CTS abseiled 27 floors last week in Amsterdam to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Hugh Simpson, the company's newly appointed Chief Delivery Officer, and Svetlin Zamfirov, Lead Platform Engineer, descended the World Trade Centre in Amsterdam as part of Google's "Rope for Hope" event. The event aims to support children and young people diagnosed with serious or life-limiting conditions.

The duo raised EUR €2,105 in donations for the charity. Established in 1986, the Make-A-Wish Foundation fulfils the wishes of children facing critical health challenges, providing them with moments of happiness and hope.

Appsbroker CTS, the largest Google Cloud partner in Europe, is known for its commitment to social causes. Tom Ray, CEO of Appsbroker CTS, underscored the significance of the event and praised the participants' efforts. He stated, "The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a fantastic charity which brings happiness to children and their families in their darkest hours. As a certified B-Corp, we're passionate about supporting causes that deliver a real social impact and we're delighted to partner with Google for today's Rope-for-Hope initiative."

Hugh Simpson, who has a personal connection to the cause, expressed his support. "As a soon-to-be father and someone who lost a brother to youth cancer, it is important that organisations like Make-A-Wish exist to create hope, happiness, and memories despite children's health challenges," he said. Simpson also noted the importance of their teams' work with Google Cloud, which benefits both their clients and charitable organisations such as the Princess Máxima Centre for Pediatric Oncology.

Svetlin Zamfirov, based in Appsbroker CTS's Netherlands office, shared his motivation for participating: "After witnessing the long battle with cancer that my father sadly lost not long ago, it really made me realise how important it is to support and put your family and loved ones first. I was really touched by Make-A-Wish Nederland and what they do to bring light to young people in their sometimes dark moments."

Zamfirov expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the event and appreciated the donations from Appsbroker CTS and his colleagues. "I am extremely pleased to be able to participate in the event—it is the least I can do. I appreciate the donations from Appsbroker CTS and my colleagues for this great cause," he added.

The funds raised from the Rope for Hope initiative will be utilised by the Make-A-Wish Foundation to continue its mission of making wishes come true for children with serious illnesses. This effort marks another instance of corporate and employee collaboration aimed at fostering community welfare.
