Atos named mainframe leader in Europe by ISG for fourth year

Atos has been recognised as a Leader in four categories of ISG's Provider Lens Mainframes – Services and Solutions for Europe in 2025.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Atos has achieved this recognition. According to ISG, Atos has strengthened its market position by attaining Leader status in the quadrants of Mainframe Optimisation Services, Application Modernisation Services, Mainframe as a Service (MFaaS), and Mainframe Operations. Previously, Atos had been positioned as a Product Challenger in Mainframe Optimisation Services; ISG has now credited its advancement to Leader status in this area.

ISG identified Atos' comprehensive product and service catalogue, its established market presence, and its consistent investment in mainframe expertise as important factors in this year's assessments. The report also highlights Atos' success at integrating artificial intelligence into its mainframe modernisation offerings.

In Mainframe Optimisation Services, ISG cited Atos' European presence, the depth of its mainframe experience spanning several decades, and its ability to deliver both scalable and flexible services. According to the ISG analysis, Atos' AI-driven tools support effective mainframe optimisation, offering clients phased and secure transformation processes while keeping operational resilience a top priority.

ISG's Application Modernisation Services evaluation considered providers' migrations and transformations of mainframe applications to more modern environments, including hybrid and cloud-based platforms. ISG highlighted Atos' risk-averse modernisation strategies and migration frameworks, noting the secure and phased approach suitable for large, complex mainframe environments. The framework's integration with generative AI (GenAI) was also emphasised as a factor allowing Atos to deliver automation and greater control over its clients' transformations.

For Mainframe as a Service (MFaaS), ISG's quadrant focuses on vendors offering shared or hosted mainframe capabilities. Here, Atos is credited for its approach to hybrid environments, strong risk management, and custom migration strategies. Atos's mainframe hubs support a full mainframe infrastructure combining its IBM technical experience with modern, cloud-aligned scalability - achieved in part through cooperation with hyperscale partners.

The Mainframe Operations quadrant takes into account the full range of mainframe operations, including performance optimisation, system upgrades, security, backup and restore. Here, Atos' provision of comprehensive mainframe operations services, including automation, cost control and hybrid IT integrations, was noted by ISG as a differentiator in the European market.
