Bensons for Beds picks WorkJam for frontline teams

Bensons for Beds has selected WorkJam as its frontline operations platform, connecting more than 1,800 colleagues across its stores, manufacturing, distribution and support functions.
The rollout covers the retailer's store estate, a manufacturing facility in Cambridgeshire, its national distribution network, and support centres in Accrington and Burnley. It will replace several legacy systems with a single platform for communications, task management, learning and employee support.
Retail staff will also be able to view their individual sales performance and earnings in real time. Direct access to this information is intended to strengthen colleagues' digital link to the head office and bring everyday work tools into one place.
Bensons operates more than 170 stores in the UK and employs staff across retail, manufacturing and logistics. The decision to consolidate systems comes as retailers face growing pressure to improve communication with frontline teams and provide clearer access to schedules, training and performance information.
Single System
WorkJam's platform combines communications, learning modules, operational tasks, and scheduling into a single app. Bensons also plans to use AI-enabled support and custom widgets that pull data from existing systems into the employee interface.
Store staff will be able to view sales figures, work schedules, learning content, and operational actions in a single digital system rather than switching between separate tools. For employers, unified platforms are increasingly used to reduce administrative complexity and make workforce data easier to share across dispersed teams.
Bensons described the deal as part of a broader internal transformation. The retailer has been reshaping its operations while positioning itself as a specialist sleep retailer, with a product portfolio that includes Staples & Co, Slumberland and Eve Sleep.
It manufactures more than 70% of its products in the UK, giving it a footprint that extends beyond the shop floor. That broad operating model creates a need for consistent communication with staff in stores, factories, warehouses and support offices.
"At Bensons for Beds, people sit at the heart of our transformation and future success," said Carrie Westwell, chief people and culture officer at Bensons for Beds.
"We're investing in colleague capability and skill development to build on the expertise that already exists across the business. That means ensuring every colleague feels connected and clear on how they make a difference. WorkJam will give us a single platform that brings communication, learning and performance together, and I'm excited about the journey ahead," Westwell added.
Workforce Focus
The agreement reflects a broader shift in retail technology spending towards tools for frontline operations rather than customer-facing commerce alone. Employers have been reviewing older internal systems as labour expectations change and staff seek faster access to information about pay, performance and development.
For chains with large store networks, legacy software often accumulates through separate investments in scheduling, internal communications, learning management, and task execution. Replacing those systems with a single platform can simplify support and reduce duplication, though it also requires changes to how managers and staff work day-to-day.
WorkJam has positioned itself around that consolidation trend, providing software for communications, task management, scheduling and learning aimed at employers with large frontline workforces.
In Bensons' case, the provider said the new setup would help close the gap between support functions and store teams. It said the retailer would be able to move information more quickly across locations while reducing the burden of running multiple systems.
"Bensons is bridging the gap between support centres and frontline colleagues across its UK locations. Strategy moves faster, productivity increases, and feedback flows both ways, all while reducing the complexity of managing multiple systems. We're proud to be part of Bensons' vision for its workforce, and this partnership shows the power of what WorkJam enables," said Steve Kramer, chief executive officer and co-founder of WorkJam.
Bensons was recently named Bed Retailer of the Year by the National Bed Federation. WorkJam is expected to support workforce initiatives planned for 2026.
