Blackpoint Cyber launches free protection programme
Wed, 13th Mar 2024

Today, Blackpoint Cyber has announced the launch of the Blackpoint Community Protection Program (BCPP), a new initiative offering free, internal-use, ‘not for resale’ licenses and 24/7 monitoring by the Blackpoint Security Operations Centre (SOC). This service will enable Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to effectively secure their internal environments, and focus on expanding their businesses.

Providing comprehensive protection, the BCPP is available to all existing and potential MSP partners. The partners will have complimentary, 24/7 access to the Blackpoint SOC and product bundle, Blackpoint Response, for six months for internal use. Should a partner reach 500 endpoints under active management, BCPP charges will be waived indefinitely, as long as the minimum threshold is maintained.

The launch of BCPP follows Blackpoint Cyber's recent discovery of two vulnerabilities in the ConnectWise ScreenConnect solution. These vulnerabilities could potentially allow unauthorised remote code execution and access to sensitive data. Blackpoint was the first cybersecurity firm to identify this issue and quickly issued a patch recommendation and upgrade to a new version for clients.

Jon Murchison, Founder and CEO of Blackpoint, pointed out the urgent need for such a program, stating, "Enabling MSPs to monitor and protect their business assets, and the assets of their clients', is our top priority." Murchison also warned about the potential significant financial damage of a breach if not appropriately managed, stating that, "Other cybersecurity vendors just provide internal-use NFR licenses, but that isn't enough to ensure MSPs have the protection they need to combat an intensifying threat landscape.”

Calvin Engen, CTO of F12, who has been a Blackpoint partner for three years, endorsed the initiative, stating that, “No other cybersecurity partner provides such a comprehensive set of tools to help me protect my clients and grow my own business.”

Apart from BCPP, Blackpoint has created a broad range of solutions under the umbrella of the 'See Clearly' campaign, aiming to aid MSPs in effectively protecting clients while expanding their businesses. These solutions include Dark Web Monitoring, Threat Assessment Summary, Blackpoint University, and Pooled Pricing.

Dark Web Monitoring offers automated reports highlighting customer credentials and assets at risk, while outlining courses of action for remediation. The Threat Assessment Summary shares periodic, exhaustive reports showing exposure across the attack surface, enabling MSPs to offer proactive protection to their clients. Blackpoint University provides practical advice from industry and domain experts on how to sell, promote, and scale a business effectively, serving as an 'MBA for MSPs' program. Furthermore, Pooled Pricing enables MSPs to provide affordable Blackpoint cybersecurity solutions to more customers.

Dewey Awad, Partner, Public Equity, Tech Opportunities at Bain Capital, applauded Blackpoint's initiative, stating, “Blackpoint is uniquely positioned to not only ensure that business assets are protected from cyber-attacks, but also that the MSP community is supported as they grow, scale, and help more customers stay safe.”
