Crest Audio adds EASE & CLF2 support to CPL+ loudspeakers

Fri, 21st Nov 2025

Crest Audio has extended the features of its CPL+ loudspeaker series, enabling full integration with EASE and CLF2 data formats. This enhancement provides audio-visual consultants, system designers, and integrators direct access to accurate, manufacturer-verified data for use in system design and simulation.

Data integration

The new capabilities allow users to incorporate CPL+ loudspeakers directly into widely-used simulation platforms such as EASE 5, EASE 4, and CLF Viewer. This offers detailed acoustic modelling through tools like 3D balloon and polar plots for directivity analysis, frequency response and phase measurements validated to industry standards, and comparative overlays to match CPL+ models against competitors. The data also supports precise SPL coverage and Speech Transmission Index (STI) mapping, which are important for planning sound coverage in varied venues.

Each CPL+ loudspeaker ships with comprehensive GLL and CF2 data files, ensuring that consultants and integrators can accurately model deployments and validate acoustic predictions for their projects.

Range features

The CPL+ range consists of six two-way full-range loudspeakers, two coaxial models, and two column array enclosures, in addition to a suite of subwoofers. These models feature premium low-frequency drivers and high-frequency components for clarity and output, with options for either constant-directivity or rotatable horns for specific coverage requirements. The subwoofers provide extended low-frequency performance, suitable for venues needing both depth and control.

All models are constructed using birch plywood and offer multiple mounting options, including flying, pole-mount, and bracket-mount configurations. Finishes are available in black or white to suit various architectural requirements, making them compatible with environments ranging from theatres and clubs to large stadiums and multi-purpose halls.

Open standards

By supporting both EASE and CLF2 formats, Crest Audio aims to foster open data standards in the industry. This approach allows CPL+ loudspeakers to be specified alongside any professional brand, giving consultants the flexibility to design systems using accurate, cross-comparable data.

"EASE and CLF2 integration ensures that CPL+ is not just powerful in performance, but also predictable in design," said Christoph Sesseck, Sales Manager, Peavey Commercial Audio (EMEA). "We know that consultants and system designers depend on credible data. Now, they can drop CPL+ straight into their modelling software and trust that what they see in simulation is what they'll get in the room."

Stadium project

Separately, Peavey Commercial Audio recently upgraded the audio system at Leeds United's Elland Road Stadium. The venue, which holds 40,000 spectators, required a solution that integrated voice alarm, emergency paging, background music, and live broadcast feeds. Peavey deployed a distributed MediaMatrix NION DSP system and centralised control architecture across a redundant network infrastructure.

The system includes Peavey nCIE Pilot processors, which monitor connected devices and manage Voice Alarm Control Indication (VACIE) to ensure critical functions remain operational. Dual NION DSP processors manage input sources and distribute audio via Dante networking to Powersoft amplifiers, supporting both the main stadium bowl and back-of-house areas. EN54-16 certification provides assurance for safety and evacuation systems.

"Stadia is one Pro AV sector where audio often takes priority over visual. For communication, safety and crowd engagement, it is important to get the audio aspect of a stadium spot on. Stadium's can be very noisy places, so crisp, clear and wholly controllable audio, in any circumstance, is essential for safety and smooth operation. We are proud of our achievements at Leeds United and have built a long-term relationship with the club, who now have a cutting-edge solution that will serve them for many, many years to come, with future-proof capability when needed," said Lee Freer, Applications Engineer, Peavey Commercial Audio.
