Hitachi unveils Virtual Storage Platform One enhancements

Today

Hitachi Vantara has announced an update to its Virtual Storage Platform One, adding all-QLC flash storage arrays, enhanced object storage integration, and expanded software-defined cloud capabilities.

This new offering is designed to help organisations handle the increasing amount of unstructured data and meet the requirements of AI and analytics workloads. Key features include public cloud replication, high-density QLC flash, and improvements in energy efficiency, aimed at reducing costs, increasing scalability, and promoting sustainable development.

The updated platform supports integration across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, simplifying data management and enhancing resilience. It is particularly suited for data-heavy sectors such as healthcare, finance, and media. The benefits of the platform include cost-effective scalability, enhanced data accessibility, and operational resilience. All-QLC flash storage offers cost reductions per gigabyte, supports large-scale data requirements, and lowers energy consumption. Meanwhile, the object storage capabilities facilitate easier management and retrieval of vast amounts of unstructured data. The platform also provides reliable disaster recovery and data availability through cloud integration and backup services.

Hitachi Vantara's Chief Product Officer, Octavian Tanase, stated: "Enterprises today are navigating an incredibly complex data landscape, with hybrid and multi-cloud environments and the growing influence of GenAI transforming how they operate. Our latest Virtual Storage Platform One solutions are designed to address these challenges head-on, providing customers with the advanced tools they need to harness their data, drive innovation, and achieve sustainable growth. By simplifying infrastructure and enhancing scalability, we are empowering businesses to unlock the full potential of their data in ways that were previously unimaginable."

The new suite, which includes the Virtual Storage Platform One Block and Object, offers significant enhancements. The all-QLC flash storage array with public cloud replication delivers high-density, cost-effective storage that is ideal for large-capacity needs, with seamless cloud backup and replication for improved disaster recovery. The object storage appliance is geared for scalability, supporting the management of massive unstructured data volumes driven by AI workloads, with configurations ensuring data availability and integrity while optimising costs and reducing environmental impact.

Additionally, the Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Cloud is designed to protect critical data without impacting performance. This solution allows for seamless replication from on-premises to the cloud, utilising snapshots for real-time data availability in development and testing environments. It supports multiple availability zones, enhancing operational resilience and simplifying database expansion.

Hitachi Vantara has received recognition for its energy-efficient technology, as the all-QLC flash storage array ranks among the top three best solutions for performance and energy efficiency according to ENERGY STAR. The suite offers an integrated data management experience that aligns storage and cloud into a unified environment.

According to Scott Sinclair, Practice Director for Cloud, Infrastructure, and DevOps at Enterprise Strategy Group, "The addition of all-QLC flash and object storage appliance provides a compelling solution for organizations looking to manage large-scale data environments efficiently. Hitachi Vantara continues to address the pressing needs of modern IT infrastructure, which helps businesses stay competitive in an era defined by data-driven innovation."
