Informatica & MongoDB expand strategic partnership for cloud-native solutions
Thu, 30th Nov 2023

Informatica, a globally recognised leader in enterprise cloud data management, has recently entered into an expanded strategic partnership with MongoDB, a leading database platform. As part of the strategic alliance, Informatica’s high-end Master Data Management (MDM) Software as a Service (SaaS) solution will team up with MongoDB Atlas, allowing customers to build a new range of cloud-native, data-driven applications.

The partnership intends to leverage the capabilities of MongoDB Atlas, synergising it with the secure foundation of Informatica’s AI-powered MDM solution. The aim is to generate a new genre of industry-tailored applications that are designed to effectively address customer requirements and enhance efficiency.

Elaborating on the collaboration, Rik Tamm-Daniels, Group Vice President of Strategic Ecosystems and Technology at Informatica, explained, "We're thrilled to announce the partnership with MongoDB. Given we already leverage the performance and scale of MongoDB Atlas within our cloud-native MDM SaaS solution and share a common focus on high-value, industry solutions, this partnership was a natural next step. Now, as a strategic MDM partner of MongoDB, we can help customers rapidly consolidate and sunset multiple legacy applications for cloud-native ones built on a trusted data foundation that fuels their mission-critical use cases."

The companies have a shared vision to address strict customer data requirements from a customer-centric perspective. In their collaborative endeavour, Informatica and MongoDB have worked on joint solutions across several sectors, including financial services, insurance, healthcare. These combine the advantages of MongoDB Atlas with Informatica’s MDM and sector-specific applications such as Customer 360, Product 360, Supplier 360, and Reference 360.

One notable application of this partnership is evident in the insurance sector, where Informatica and MongoDB have assisted insurance companies worldwide in swiftly realising their digital and AI strategies. This has been achieved via consolidating and replacing legacy systems and speeding up the delivery of next generation, cloud-native business applications rooted in trusted data.

Vice President of Data Intelligence and Integration software research at IDC, Stewart Bond, commented on the alliance, stating, "The combination of MongoDB and Informatica MDM will provide developers and organisations with the opportunity to create data-first business applications, where data will drive the function and action of users and provide more opportunities for automation." This signifies a critical shift from 'function-first' to 'data-first' in the design and use of business applications.

A recent global data leaders survey commissioned by Informatica revealed that nearly 45% respondents deemed gaining a more comprehensive view of their customers as a key data strategy for 2023. The same survey highlighted that the biggest hurdle cited by 32% of data leaders was a lack of a complete view and understanding of their data estates, impacting their ability to implement their data strategies successfully.

Alan Chhabra, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Partners at MongoDB, celebrated the alliance, stating "Informatica is a valued partner of MongoDB and we're thrilled to formalise the collaboration through our ISV program and bring innovative joint solutions to market. Master data management (MDM) is a fundamental component for nearly all application workloads, particularly those in highly regulated industries with complex compliance requirements. Informatica is a leader in this space, and their MDM solution running on MongoDB Atlas ensures that joint customers can innovate more quickly, efficiently and effectively."
