Keepit expands Swiss footprint with two new data centres
Thu, 11th Apr 2024

Keepit, a global cloud backup and recovery firm, has announced the opening of two new data centres in Switzerland. The locations have been established in partnership with Equinix, a leading green digital infrastructure company, enabling Keepit to provide data storage solutions that adhere to Swiss laws and regulations.

These openings expand Keepit's data centre footprint, providing for business both within Switzerland and internationally. As part of continuing growth in Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) and data recovery, Keepit has found the need for these new data centres due to the accelerating increase in data volume and the resulting demand for secure, compliant backup solutions.

Jakob Østergaard, CTO of Keepit, elucidated that the company's data centre strategy is structured to permit customers to immediately recover lost or compromised data. "Equinix data centres are known worldwide for their excellent security standards. With each site holding full copies of user data - with two mirrored physical locations - our customers can be assured that their data is always available, regardless of the status of their SaaS provider," pointed out Østergaard. "Through this infrastructure, Keepit can guarantee that all customer data remains in place without transferring middleware to servers outside the regions."

The new data centres highlight Keepit's commitment to offering the fastest, most secure and efficient service to its expanding customer base and partner network in Switzerland. The instalments will allow Keepit to deliver locally stored, low-latency data backup and recovery services for leading Software-as-a-Service platforms such as Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure DevOps, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce and Zendesk.

In collaboration with Swiss IT consultancy firm Joker IT, Yannic Graber, founder of Joker IT, has praised Keepit's new data centres as a significant advancement for Swiss customers. "With Keepit’s launch of Swiss data centres and our expertise, we're bringing the pinnacle of data privacy and compliance right to the heart of Switzerland. We're dedicated to empowering our customers with a cutting-edge SaaS backup solution that not only meets, but exceeds the Swiss standards for digital workplace security," Graber conveyed.

Keepit illustrates a unique infrastructural methodology by operating multiple separate, mirrored data centres in each region, each functioning in active-active mode. This allows continuous replication of data between centres, ensuring platform operation continues unhindered, even in the event of a single system failure or the highly unlikely loss of an entire data centre.

These new data centres join Keepit’s previously established locations in Germany, Denmark, the UK, the US, Canada, and Australia. In their totality, these centres ensure that Keepit is in an even stronger position to protect and manage clients' cloud data securely.
