Logicalis wins official approval for science-led emissions goals
Thu, 25th Apr 2024

Global technology services provider, Logicalis, has announced that its science-driven net-zero emissions targets have been officially approved and validated by the globally recognised Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This important acknowledgment follows Logicalis' commitment to the SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard back in early 2023, the world's premier model for corporate net-zero target setting consistent with climate science. These science-backed targets provide a well-defined roadmap for companies looking to reduce their emissions in alignment with the goals set out in the Paris Agreement.

Over the past two years, Logicalis has accelerated its commitment to responsible business practices through the implementation of precise and targeted scientific measurements. After a thorough review, the company has now received the highest accolade achievable from the SBTi. The SBTi has verified Logicalis' Scope 1 and 2 target ambition as comparable to a 1.5C trajectory. This includes the company's pledge to halve absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and have 85 per cent of their suppliers, in terms of expenditure, adopt science-based targets for the goods and services purchased by 2028. Logicalis' long-term objective for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions align with the goal of reaching net-zero by 2050 or even sooner.

Logicalis' Global CEO, Bob Bailkoski, expressed his delight over this achievement, stating: "We are thrilled to have our net-zero emissions target approved and validated by SBTi. Our goal is to be the top sustainable IT partner for our customers, vendors, and employees. This formal recognition underscores our commitment to reducing carbon emissions worldwide in accordance with climate science, something that our 7000 Architects of Change can firmly stand behind."

As part of the company's commitment to transparency and environmental accountability, Logicalis has released a comprehensive environmental statement. In this statement, the company discloses its carbon emission baseline figures and plots a course for achieving its carbon reduction objectives. These include becoming carbon neutral on Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Logicalis' fervent commitment to sustainability has not gone unnoticed. The company has gained multiple awards, including the Cisco Environmental Sustainability Specialisation in 15 separate global territories, the Sustainability Partner of the Year award at the Cisco Partner Summit in 2023, and being lauded as the first partner globally to gain Cisco's Sustainable Campus Access Add-On specialisation.

Charissa Jaganath, Logicalis' Head of Responsible Business, commented on this recognition, saying, "We are deeply devoted to becoming carbon neutral and have a fervent passion for sustainability. It's rewarding to have our efforts recognised by the SBTi. Mitigating environmental harm is a pressing, immediate concern and we are committed to maintaining this momentum. At Logicalis, we realise the vital importance of collaboration and that's why we are going to continue to prioritise working with our partners to ensure that we all contribute to a cleaner, healthier planet."
