MQA Labs unveils new technologies at Bluesound launch
MQA Labs, a division of Lenbrook Media Group, has announced two new technologies within its QRONO product line: QRONO d2a and QRONO dsd.
QRONO dsd is introduced as a new standard in DSD-to-PCM conversion. Alongside it, QRONO d2a aims to maximise audio performance in digital-to-analogue converters (DACs). Both technologies are being launched with the upcoming release of Bluesound's NODE ICON streamer this month.
Director of Engineering at MQA Labs, Al Wood, explained the rationale behind QRONO. "The problems introduced by traditional digital audio filters are well understood, and QRONO is the platform that offers solutions for our hardware partners and licensees," Wood stated.
He elaborated that the focus is on "the meticulous application of fundamental signal processing techniques," involving filters and noise shapers to enhance impulse response and transparency in digital-to-analogue conversion.
Wood emphasised the approach to DSD conversion, "handled with the lightest possible touch to preserve all the crucial time details in the recording." He expressed optimism about the technology's integration in the Bluesound NODE ICON, believing it would deliver superior audio performance to its users.
Andy Dowell, Director of Business Development at MQA Labs, highlighted the advanced listening capabilities enabled by the new technologies. "Human hearing is much more precise than previously understood, particularly when listening for fine detail," he noted.
Dowell underscored the MQA Labs team's contribution to the HiFi industry, aligning with Lenbrook's broader vision of enhancing the consumer listening experience through advanced technologies.
MQA Labs will showcase QRONO d2a and QRONO dsd at upcoming industry events, including CES, NAMM, and ISE, where they will meet with partners interested in licensing the new technologies.
