New Future Stores opens on Oxford Street with GBP £20m boost

The Future Stores concept has been launched on London's Oxford Street, heralding a new era of retail with a strong emphasis on technology and immersive experiences.

Future Stores, the latest addition to the retail scene, is located on one of Europe's most frequented shopping streets, with an investment of GBP £20 million to transform traditional shopping experiences. This novel retail model offers a dynamic and continuously evolving shopping environment that blends physical and digital elements.

Brands will take part in rotating "showcases" or "activations" every two to six weeks, beginning with Intel, which offers an interactive activation experience. "Intel's commitment to pioneering innovation is matched by our dedication to collaboration," said Steve Shakespeare, Sales Director at Intel. "The store is powered by Intel Core processors and from October 30 consumers will be able to experience AI PC in person."

Upon entering the expansive location that covers an entire Oxford Street block, customers are greeted with 400m² of high-definition Micro LED displays provided by Mood Media, coupled with monumental billboards and cameras. This space allows for live demos and showcases led by influencers and creators, providing a vivid and shared shopping experience.

Ariel Haroush, Founder and Chair of Future Stores, describes the concept as meeting the needs of modern shoppers. "Today's shoppers are driven by TikTok-length attention spans, and traditional retail simply can't keep up with Gen Z and Gen Alpha," stated Haroush. "Our concept is the answer—an electrifying blend of creativity, technology, and multi-sensory design that feels like stepping into the Future. It's about giving consumers and brands what they crave: an engaging, meaningful experience."

Future Stores leverages data to tailor these experiences further, an aspect highlighted by Engin Celikbas, Managing Director EMEA of Future Stores. "Today, leveraging data to create personalized experiences isn't a luxury—it's a necessity. This insight allows us to engage with consumers on a deeper level, enhancing conversion rates and boosting customer satisfaction," Celikbas explained.

The store not only serves as a retail location but also as a site for brands to create and amplify experiences through social and digital channels. It is designed to support brands in crafting immersive and interactive experiences that align with consumer trends, thereby enhancing both on-site and online brand visibility and engagement.

The initiative to open Future Stores in Oxford Street is aligned with broader retail trends, with physical retail space continuing to play a significant role. As the retail landscape evolves, these types of hybrid models are likely to cater to a digitally influenced generation, creating experiences that combine the physical and digital aspects of shopping.

Kate Hardcastle MBE, an Independent Consumer Champion, reinforced this sentiment, stating: "Consumers today demand more than just convenience—they want immersive, meaningful interactions that bring the best of digital and physical shopping together. Future Stores delivers on this promise by creating dynamic, ever-changing experiences that not only captivate but also empower the shopper."

Dee Corsi, Chief Executive at New West End Company, also expressed enthusiasm, noting that Future Stores' concept contributes to the vibrancy and transformation of Oxford Street. "Future Stores' unique blend of retail and digital innovation makes it a fantastic addition to Oxford Street, which now boasts immersive retail and cultural attractions stretching from Tottenham Court Road to Marble Arch."

Samantha Bain-Mollison, Head of Retail at Places for London, commented on the collaboration to make this retail concept a reality. "Future Stores is unlike anything else we've had on our estate, and it shows that we welcome innovative and creative businesses that redefine the boundaries of retail," remarked Bain-Mollison.

While London is the first city to host Future Stores, future plans include expanding to Paris, New York, and potentially a second site in London, reflecting the store's ambition to redefine the retail landscape globally.
