Vodafone & Google Cloud launch AI & security tools

Fri, 24th Apr 2026 (Today)

Vodafone Business has launched two new services with Google Cloud for small and medium-sized businesses, expanding the companies' USD $1 billion strategic partnership.

The new products are a managed detection and response cyber security service and an AI Concierge service built with Google Gemini. They are aimed at smaller companies seeking more automation and stronger protection against cyber threats.

The managed detection and response service uses Google Security Operations and will launch first in Germany, with plans to expand to other European markets.

According to Vodafone Business, the product combines Google's security analytics and threat intelligence tools with Vodafone Business's customer reach and support structure for smaller firms across Europe. It is intended to help businesses detect and respond to threats as they emerge.

AI rollout

The second product, Vodafone Business AI Concierge with Google Gemini, is launching in Germany and Greece. It is designed to manage customer interactions, answer enquiries and book appointments through voice and data-based interactions.

The tool can operate autonomously in a business setting and is intended to handle routine customer-facing tasks outside normal working hours. Vodafone Business described it as the first in a planned set of AI agent services for business customers.

The announcement marks another step in the ten-year partnership between Vodafone and Google Cloud. The USD $1 billion agreement was set up to expand the use of AI, cloud and security tools across Vodafone's markets in Europe and Africa.

Market focus

Smaller businesses have become an increasingly contested market for large technology and telecoms providers as demand grows for cyber security services and generative AI tools that do not require in-house technical teams. Many small firms are under pressure to improve digital operations while managing tighter budgets and rising exposure to online fraud and attacks.

Germany appears to be the initial test market for both products, with Vodafone Business citing the country's data protection standards in relation to the cyber security service. Greece is also part of the first phase of the AI Concierge rollout.

Fanan Henriques, Vodafone Business Product and International Business Director, said the company wanted to make AI easier for smaller firms to adopt without adding operational risk.

"Vodafone Business is helping millions of SMBs unlock the power of AI without the complexity or risk," said Fanan Henriques, Vodafone Business Product and International Business Director.

"By combining our network and support with Google Cloud's AI expertise, we're making advanced, secure AI practical for everyday business use, starting with innovations like AI Concierge, one of the first telephony integrations with Gemini," added Henriques.

Google Cloud presented the partnership as an effort to bring newer AI and security tools to companies that have often had less access to them than larger organisations.

"Small businesses are the backbone of the global economy, yet they are often the most underserved when it comes to cutting-edge tech," said Oliver Parker, Vice President, Global Generative AI, Google Cloud.

"Together with Vodafone Business, we are changing that. By combining our Gemini models and enterprise-grade security expertise with Vodafone's deep connectivity and customer reach, we are giving SMBs the tools they need to stay protected and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape," added Parker.
