Fri, 21st Jun 2024

Scality has been recognised as a leader in the 2024 GigaOm Radar for Enterprise Object Storage report. This accolade places the company ahead of 17 other vendors, securing the highest ratings in key evaluation categories such as Key Features, Emerging Features and Business Criteria.

In GigaOm's exhaustive data-driven review process, Scality achieved the highest possible score of 5, outperforming other vendors in various areas. These areas included Kubernetes support, workload optimisation, auditing, versioning, ransomware protection, reporting and analytics, storage optimisation, and public cloud integration. Scality's comprehensive performance was noted as superior to exceptional, particularly regarding business criteria such as cost, performance, flexibility, manageability, scalability, and ecosystem integration.

The report highlighted that Scality received the highest score among all object storage vendors in emerging features as well. These outstanding scores contributed to Scality's categorisation as an Outperformer, positioning it closest to the centre of the Radar chart. This positioning signifies an optimal balance of feature play, platform play, maturity and innovation, denoting higher overall value and better execution according to GigaOm.

"We are thrilled to see Scality recognised as an object storage market leader by GigaOm," stated Paul Speciale, Chief Marketing Officer at Scality. He emphasised the significance of the report, explaining, "Object storage has revolutionised enterprise data management with increased agility, reduced costs and improved business resilience."

Speciale provided an example of real-world applications wherein Scality's technology is making an impact. "The innovations of object storage are evident in applications like AI data lakes for genomic research. With Scality RING's capability to aggregate petabyte-scale genetics data, biologists can now efficiently access nearly 10 petabytes of data from thousands of compute nodes throughout the data lifecycle, potentially improving care for patients suffering from cancer and other diseases," he said.

The GigaOm Radar for Enterprise Object Storage, now in its fifth year, serves to assist prospective customers in finding the best fit for their specific use cases and business requirements. The report commended Scality for its extensive enhancements and new features released over the past 12 months. Additionally, the roadmap for Scality indicates continued development and maturity of these new features.

According to the report, "This year, Scality is a Leader, having outperformed many vendors with more enhancements and new features released over the last 12 months. The roadmap continues this theme, and we expect to see the continued development and maturity of these new features."

The criteria for evaluation over a 16-week research process required Scality and other vendors to present both high-level and detailed technical information. This encompassed the core features of Scality's RING, a distributed file and object storage system. The review process moved through various stages including report planning, briefings, development, and fact-checking.

The GigaOm Enterprise Object Storage Radar report mandated that all solutions meet capabilities that are widely adopted and implemented in the sector. These capabilities included access controls, data protection and optimisation, encryption and security, remote and geo-replication, encryption, scale-out architecture, and support for S3 and other protocols.
