Škoda brings AirConsole & Tetris to parked EV drivers
AirConsole has signed Škoda as an automotive partner, bringing its in-car gaming platform to selected battery-electric models in Europe. The rollout also adds Tetris as a six-month exclusive for Škoda drivers using the system.
The agreement makes AirConsole available in the Škoda Enyaq with Software Version 4.0 or higher and in the Škoda Elroq. Drivers and passengers access games via the infotainment screen, using their smartphones as controllers.
The service is intended for use while the vehicle is parked, such as during charging stops, breaks on longer journeys, or waiting time. It requires no additional in-car hardware beyond the existing infotainment system and a compatible smartphone.
Smartphone controls
AirConsole uses a web-style connection between the car display and players' phones. Instead of relying on touch controls on the dashboard screen, the phone acts as the controller. Depending on the title and vehicle configuration, the system supports up to five players.
For carmakers, in-vehicle entertainment now sits alongside navigation, media streaming, and connected services. In battery-electric vehicles, charging creates more frequent dwell time, prompting manufacturers and technology suppliers to look for ways to keep occupants engaged while stationary.
Tetris In-Car
Tetris launches with the Škoda partnership and is designed for the in-car display with smartphone controls. It will be available in solo and multiplayer modes, without relying on touch-only interaction with the dashboard.
The title will be exclusive to Škoda on AirConsole for six months. The companies have not said whether it will appear on other automotive platforms after that window, or whether it will remain available to Škoda drivers beyond it.
Anthony Cliquot, CEO of N-Dream (AirConsole), said: "Welcoming Škoda to AirConsole is a natural fit. As one of the Volkswagen Group's fastest-growing brands, Škoda understands how digital experiences can make time spent in the car more engaging and more human."
He added: "Games deserve to be thoughtfully integrated into the car; not hidden away in app stores no one uses. That's exactly why Tetris is joining AirConsole: a platform with the scale and user experience focus needed to do justice to games in the automotive environment."
Maya Rogers, CEO of The Tetris Company, said: "Tetris has captivated players for decades because its gameplay is simple, intuitive, and accessible to everyone regardless of age, culture, or gaming experience."
She added: "By expanding Tetris to AirConsole and Škoda we're meeting players in everyday moments and transforming parked time into shared entertainment, continuing our mission to make Tetris easy to pick up, fun to play, and meaningful to experience together."
Game catalogue
Beyond Tetris, Škoda drivers will have access to a library of 14 casual games across several genres, including party, trivia, arcade, sports, and puzzle titles. The list includes UNO Car Party and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
The service is available in EU countries. The app comes pre-installed in supported vehicles and is accessed through Škoda's Media Streaming package. Pricing was not disclosed, and it is unclear whether any games require separate purchases.
Škoda positioned the offering as part of its push to expand in-cabin digital services. The carmaker has been building out connected features across newer model lines as vehicle software becomes a more prominent point of product differentiation.
Petr Kabelka, Connectivity & New Businesses Lead at Škoda Auto, said: "Our goal is to enrich the everyday mobility experience with meaningful digital services. With AirConsole, we are opening a new chapter in in-car entertainment at Škoda, allowing customers to explore new forms of digital experiences directly in the vehicle as part of our Media Streaming package."
AirConsole is developed by N-Dream, which describes itself as an in-car experience company. The platform is built around multiplayer play in the cabin, with participants joining from their phones. Depending on the vehicle configuration, it can also use the car's sound and lighting systems as part of the setup.
The partnership adds Škoda to AirConsole's growing list of automotive partners as carmakers deliver more digital features through the infotainment stack. The Škoda launch also reflects a shift in in-car gaming towards sessions designed for parked, shared play rather than single-player novelty features.
