SmartBear, a front-running provider of software development and visibility solutions, has been lauded with double honours at the 2024 DEVIES Awards. The Massachusetts-based firm claimed top prizes in both Microservices and API (Application Programming Interface) Management categories, a significant recognition of their sterling design, engineering, and innovation in developer technology. This year's DEVIES Awards, which spanned 31 categories, marked the event's 12th anniversary.
PactFlow, SmartBear's comprehensive contract testing platform, received the DEVIES Award in the Microservices and Serverless category for streamlining microservice-based application development, deployment, and management. Meanwhile, SwaggerHub, SmartBear's API design and documentation tool, was distinguished in the API Management and Support category for its pivotal role in helping API teams regulate access to their services and strategise their APIs.
Executive Producer of DevNetwork, Jonathan Pasky, noted the key role developer tools and technology products play in enabling software developers and engineers to construct the worldwide technology ecosystem. Last year, in a groundbreaking move, SmartBear integrated the powerful contract testing capabilities of PactFlow with SwaggerHub. This fusion provided architects and developers with momentous visibility on how a proposed change could influence an API's utilisation by the consumer.

In a bid to enhance its comprehensive API development, testing, and insight readiness offerings this year, SmartBear aims to consolidate its toolsets into three integrated hubs, namely the API Hub, Test Hub, and Insight Hub.
The coveted DEVIES Awards were judged by the independent DevNetwork Advisory Board, which undertook a rigorous process of selection from hundreds of nominations, considering a range of criteria. SmartBear's API Technical Evangelist, Frank Kilcommins, will receive the two accolades during DeveloperWeek 2024, which will be held from February 21-23, 2024, in Oakland, CA, and February 27-29, 2024 via live online sessions. Kilcommins is also set to deliver a presentation entitled "The Workflows Specification: The Missing Piece of the API Puzzle" at the event.
