Amperity named leader in IDC MarketScape 2025 for retail CDPs
Amperity has been named a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Retail Customer Data Platforms 2025 Vendor Assessment, which analysed providers in the customer data platform (CDP) sector on a global scale.
The IDC MarketScape assessment evaluated several solution capabilities relevant to CDPs, including the ability to offer real-time personalisation, support generative artificial intelligence features, and activate data, along with the provider's overall company vision and strategy.
Criteria for positioning
In the IDC MarketScape report, Amperity's positioning as a leader was attributed to the performance of its suite of tools designed to help retailers address complex data requirements inherent in today's retail environments. According to IDC, the growing fragmentation of data sources and heightened customer expectations for personalised experiences are driving demand for advanced CDPs.
"Retailers today are navigating increasingly complex data environments, with fragmented sources and rising expectations for personalized experiences," said Ornella Urso, Research Director at IDC. "Amperity's platform is built to address these challenges head-on, combining patented identity resolution, data governance and embedded AI capabilities to help enterprise retailers unify and activate their customer data at scale. Its focus on enabling both technical and nontechnical users through tools like AmpAI, focusing on compliance and operational flexibility, positions Amperity in the Leaders Category in this year's evaluation."
IDC's MarketScape benchmark reflects Amperity's commitment to balancing both technical solutions and accessibility for users throughout retail organisations. Tools such as AmpAI are designed to support compliance needs and operational agility, appealing to a wide variety of use cases across retail sectors.
Retail adoption
Amperity is currently used by numerous retail brands, including Accent Group, Brooks Running, Citizen Watch, Dr. Martens, JB Hi-Fi and SPARC Group. These retailers leverage Amperity's solutions to unify customer data into actionable profiles, which in turn aim to deepen loyalty programmes, enhance marketing performance, and improve engagement across sales channels.
By consolidating customer records and offering tools for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, Amperity enables brands to adapt quickly to a retail landscape marked by rapid changes in consumer behaviour and expectations.
Company perspective
Company representatives see the IDC MarketScape recognition as validation of their product direction and efforts to support the evolving requirements of retailers.
"It's incredibly rewarding to see our product strategy and execution recognized," said Tony Owens, CEO at Amperity. "Retailers are navigating massive change - from shifting consumer behavior to the rise of AI and growing demand for personalization. Amperity is helping brands build the data foundation to meet this moment. We believe being named a Leader by the IDC MarketScape reflects the impact we're making in unifying customer data, activating insights and turning data into business value."
AI-powered innovation
Amperity has recently rolled out two new AI-powered capabilities: the Identity Resolution Agent and Chuck Data. The Identity Resolution Agent leverages machine learning to match and combine customer records from disparate sources dynamically, reducing data silos and inconsistencies. Meanwhile, Chuck Data operates as an AI assistant within the terminal, enabling data engineers to use natural language commands to build customer tables, resolve identities, and tag personally identifiable information (PII) without manual coding or orchestration.
Both of these enhancements are targeted at improving the speed and accuracy with which enterprise retailers can derive actionable insights from their customer data, while also reducing the technical barriers typically associated with such projects.
IDC MarketScape's approach
The IDC MarketScape model evaluates vendors using a framework that incorporates both qualitative and quantitative measurements. These methodologies yield a graphical representation of each supplier's market position, allowing technology buyers to compare the strengths and weaknesses of various providers across key success factors in the IT and telecommunications space.
The IDC MarketScape's intent is to offer clarity and guidance to buyers assessing both current and prospective technology vendors for their business needs.
