Telehouse donates laptops boosting digital inclusion in Tower Hamlets
Telehouse, a globally recognised colocation provider, has made a significant contribution to digital inclusion in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH). Working together with the LBTH Council's Social Value Benefits Scheme, Telehouse donated 40 laptops to numerous Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations within the borough.
The impact of these valuable donations has been remarkable. They provide crucial technological support and facilitate enriched educational opportunities for children through improved online learning experiences. Thanks to Telehouse's contribution, the benefactor organisations have increased their digital proficiency and enhanced training capabilities.
Among the recipients, the Heritage Charity London reportedly felt that the technology donation had made a tangible change in the lives of the children they serve. According to their Director, Fruzsina Marjan, "The gift of these laptops has not only enriched our technological capabilities but has become a catalyst for positive change."
Echoing this sentiment, Ambeah Rahman, Project Coordinator at Blossom Project, commented on the impact of having access to the laptops, which, she says, has "allowed our users to conduct and complete their online training opportunities with ease and speed."
The donation has increased efficiency and financial savings for the recipient organisations, reducing costs and administrative time spent sourcing and setting up new equipment.
Maniprabh, Director of Globe Community Project, remarked, "Having the laptops makes a huge difference to us as a small charity, not only in terms of pound value but also in terms of the administrative time needed to source laptops and software. We really appreciate Telehouse's partnership and sense of solidarity for our community."
In the current climate of budgetary pressure organisations across the UK face due to factors including rising inflation and escalating energy prices, this donation has enabled the council to extend its support to local entities.
Syeda S Hassan, Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Development Officer at LBTH, praised the contribution: "The donation of laptops by Telehouse has helped us to provide our grassroots organisations with the opportunity to deliver vital community service, as well as enabling them the digital inclusion they need to secure funding and design services for the local community."
Telehouse has strongly emphasised community engagement through its robust environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy. By providing such valuable resources, Telehouse views its contributions as an investment in the future of these communities, fostering a culture of new digital opportunities.
Judy Gosnell, HR Director from Telehouse, also commented, "By focusing on giving back to the community, we're not just donating equipment but investing in the future of communities and fostering a culture of new digital opportunities."
Telehouse's donation of laptops to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets has had a profound and far-reaching impact on the local community. Through this initiative, Telehouse has demonstrated its commitment to digital inclusion and social responsibility, providing essential resources that empower organisations and individuals alike.
