UBDS Group acquires 3B Data Security to bolster UK cyber

Yesterday

UBDS Group has announced the acquisition of 3B Data Security, expanding its cyber security capabilities within the UK market.

3B Data Security, a Cambridge-based company, will maintain its autonomy, including its brand identity, under the terms of the acquisition. All 23 employees, including the management team, will join the 150-strong workforce already part of UBDS Group.

The acquisition aligns with UBDS Group's strategy of collaborating with and investing in entrepreneurs to support and accelerate their growth. UBDS Group operates through its technology infrastructure and solutions provider UBDS Digital and AWS specialist Rayo.

Diptesh Patel, CEO of UBDS Group, commented, "We aim to work with like-minded people who share our vision and ambition. We recognise these attributes in the team at 3B Data Security, and we want to support them with our Group capabilities while enhancing our cyber offering to better serve clients across our wider business."

3B Data Security provides a range of cyber security services, such as digital forensic incident response, security training, information security consulting, and penetration testing. The firm holds notable accreditations, including the National Cyber Security Centre CIR Level 2 Incident Response Provider and PCI Security Standards Council PCI Forensic Investigator & Qualified Security Assessor Company.

Benn Morris, CEO of 3B Data Security and a Chartered Cyber Security Professional, mentioned the synergy with UBDS Group, stating, "We share a similar mindset and we both recognise the growth potential for our businesses while understanding that this partnership is primarily about enabling our teams to grow and develop, all while actively preventing security breaches and protecting our clients."

Alex Gore, UBDS Group's Chief Strategy Officer, indicated the group's focus on enhancing their cyber security capabilities, noting, "We already have robust cyber capabilities and want to accelerate our growth in this area."

He further added, "The threat landscape is continuously evolving, and with this investment and our ongoing initiatives, we now have the rocket fuel we need to expand our reach in sales, bids, and go to market. We have a full breadth of cyber security services that very few companies of our size can match."

In addition to the acquisition, UBDS Group has expanded its Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Manchester. The centre, operational 24/7/365, now benefits from 3B Data Security's expertise in managed detection and response, threat prevention, and threat intelligence.

Discussing the role of the SOC, Patel said, "We have a highly skilled team of SOC analysts available to assist clients who may not have these resources in-house. Our clients range from large government departments to small private organisations, all requiring enhanced security."

He added, "This service complements the combined UBDS Group and 3B Data Security offerings and allows us to provide comprehensive end-to-end security solutions, ensuring our clients are fully protected against emerging threats."
