AliExpress has added a range of Yadea electric motorbikes to its UK marketplace, expanding its local-delivery offer into electric mopeds and motorcycles.
The line-up includes three models: the OWIN, GFX and Keeness. Eligible orders placed through the local delivery service are expected to arrive within four working days.
The move comes as UK demand for powered two-wheelers rises. Figures from the Motorcycle Industry Association show 8,009 were registered in the UK in August, up 17% from 6,846 in the same month a year earlier.
Electric bike registrations also increased, rising to 272 in August from 253 a year earlier, up 7.5%. While electric motorcycles and mopeds remain a small part of the wider market, the figures point to continued interest in alternatives to petrol-powered transport for commuting, local trips and leisure use.
AliExpress said demand for moped-related products on its platform had reached the hundreds of thousands, prompting it to add complete vehicles from Yadea. The range is positioned across both lower-cost urban transport and a more powerful electric motorcycle designed to match the performance of a conventional 125cc machine.
The pricing reflects that spread. The OWIN is listed at GBP £2,195.86, the GFX at GBP £2,441.73 and the Keeness at GBP £6,548.28.
That puts the Keeness at almost three times the price of the entry model, highlighting the difference between an urban scooter-style vehicle and a larger electric motorcycle aimed at riders seeking higher performance.
Market context
Online availability may widen access to a category that has traditionally relied on specialist dealers and showrooms. Consumers can compare prices and models more easily, although buying a road-legal moped or motorcycle still involves checks on type approval, registration, insurance, warranty, servicing and parts supply.
Licence requirements also vary depending on how a vehicle is classified under UK rules. Riders must meet legal obligations covering registration, insurance, helmets and other safety equipment before using the vehicles on public roads.
AliExpress is also extending its Brand+ Best Price Guarantee to eligible purchases in the category. Under the programme, it said it would refund the difference if an eligible item was found at a lower price at major retailers including Amazon, eBay, Shein or Temu within seven days of purchase, subject to the scheme's conditions.
The launch marks a step up in ticket size for the platform in the UK. Unlike lower-cost accessories and consumer goods, electric mopeds and motorcycles bring greater scrutiny around after-sales support, battery coverage and long-term maintenance.
One customer cited by the company described a positive experience after ordering an electric bicycle through the platform.
"I bought this bike two weeks ago from AliExpress for £513 using a £60 off voucher. I have covered nearly 400 kilometres so far. I have been doing some Uber Eats deliveries on it and have nearly made back what I paid for the bike. I bought the back box for £9 from B&Q, and it even folds flat when I don't need it. The battery is impressive. Today I rode 13 miles along the beach, 13 miles back, and it still had 3 out of 5 bars remaining. It's 18.2 ah (amp-hour). I posted here a few weeks ago and I'm thankful for the replies, as I looked for specific things before buying a bike. I was anxious about ordering from AliExpress, but it arrived within four days, the bike has had no issues so far and I'm very happy with it."
