Apogee selected to deliver IT & telecoms for charity sector

Thu, 21st Aug 2025

Apogee Corporation has been selected as the IT and telecoms partner for the Charities Buying Group framework to provide managed workplace services to not-for-profit organisations across the United Kingdom.

The Charities Buying Group (CBG) was founded in 2002 with the objective of supporting charities in reducing procurement costs and maximising value through collective buying power. The organisation's efforts were recognized in 2004 when CBG was commended in Parliament for helping its initial 255 members save over GBP £1 million in one year.

Framework agreement

Apogee will now deliver a range of managed IT and telecoms services via the CBG framework. These services address a range of sector-specific operational challenges not-for-profit organisations face, especially as many charity IT teams struggle with limited staff and resources.

The services available to charities through the new arrangement include Device as a Service (DaaS) - providing access to contemporary IT hardware via monthly payments - comprehensive cyber security to guard against escalating cyber threats, managed telecoms solutions for secure business communications, and estate review and analysis to optimise existing technology infrastructure. The aim is to enable charity IT teams to move away from routine, low-value work and gain time to focus on more strategic priorities.

"I am pleased to announce our new partnership here at the Charities Buying Group with Apogee. We have both been working on providing the best IT and telecoms solutions for our membership and this is now available. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship for the benefit of our membership," says Michael Hodgetts, CEO of Charities Buying Group.

Access to enterprise solutions

Through this partnership, charities will have access to enterprise-level IT and telecoms services tailored to their operational requirements. These include the ability to better manage cash flow via hardware subscriptions and the opportunity to enhance security postures with professional-grade solutions, while also enabling more effective management and optimisation of existing technology resources.

Charity organisations working with Apogee have reported that managed workplace services lessen the internal IT burden and result in both direct cost savings and greater mission impact by freeing up staff to focus on essential tasks.

"This partnership represents a fantastic opportunity for charities to transform how they manage, secure, and utilise their technology. These services are designed to boost value whilst minimising expenditure of resources, which not-for-profits desperately need," says Sam Procter, Apogee's Director of Managed IT Services.

Experience in the sector

Apogee already collaborates with several UK charities, such as Barnardo's, Change Grow Live, Milestones Trust, and Northern Ireland Hospice, providing examples of its experience within the sector. The new CBG framework is anticipated to extend these capabilities and benefits to a wider range of not-for-profit organisations.

As a result of the partnership, charities on the CBG framework will benefit from lower costs enabled by collective buying, improved productivity with up-to-date devices, strengthened digital security, and a reduced workload for internal IT departments. This approach to managed services is positioned as a way for not-for-profit organisations to redirect savings and resources directly into their primary service activities.

Apogee brings over thirty years' experience to this collaboration and is an independent subsidiary of HP Inc. The framework agreement with CBG is framed as a means to expand access to professional IT and telecoms services for the UK's charity sector.
