Avalara has launched Versori by Avalara following its acquisition of Manchester-founded Versori.

The product is aimed at developers and partners connecting enterprise systems to Avalara's tax and compliance software. Available through Avalara's developer portal, it is built around AI agents that handle stages of the integration process.

The launch reflects a growing focus among software suppliers on the practical barriers companies face when rolling out AI across large technology estates. In many businesses, tax and compliance tools must connect with enterprise resource planning systems, billing platforms, eCommerce applications and bespoke software - a task that often requires specialist engineering work.

According to Avalara, those projects can increase budgets and staffing pressure, particularly when businesses change systems or expand into more complex technology environments. The company is positioning the new product as a way to reduce the engineering effort needed to build and maintain those links.

Integration process

Avalara says the system uses four AI agents covering planning, connection, build and deployment. The planning stage analyses endpoint schemas, API contracts and compliance requirements. The connection stage handles authentication and system-to-system handshakes across enterprise software and databases.

The build stage generates transformation logic, mapping rules and error-handling code, while the deployment stage runs automated testing, checks the connector against Avalara certification benchmarks and publishes it. Customers and partners retain access to the generated connector code and business logic, according to the company.

Avalara distinguishes the new product from tools based on generic code generation or fixed templates. Instead, the software is designed to manage the full integration lifecycle, from initial requirements to a production-ready connector.

Founded in Manchester, Versori developed an AI-based platform for automating integration development. Its technology addressed a long-standing issue for larger organisations, where connecting software systems can take substantial developer time and delay wider projects.

The integration question is becoming more prominent as companies move AI projects from pilot phases into operational use. AI systems typically depend on access to data and actions spread across multiple business applications, making integration a prerequisite for broader automation.

Avalara, which focuses on tax and compliance software, says it processes more than 54 billion AvaTax API calls annually and supports millions of businesses worldwide. That scale gives the company a large installed base of customers and partners that may need to link tax workflows with multiple internal and external systems.

Hugo Sarrazin, Chief Executive Officer of Avalara, said the launch is intended to remove a persistent obstacle for customers and software partners. "Businesses should not have to spend significant engineering time just to connect tax and compliance to the systems where they already work," he said.

He added: "Versori by Avalara changes that equation. Specialised AI agents can research, build, test, and deploy production-grade connectors in days, giving developers and partners a dramatically faster path to bring Avalara into virtually any enterprise system. For customers, that means less integration work, faster time to value, and greater freedom to use the technology that works for their business."
