Belfast Distillery adopts new ERP system to boost efficiency
The Belfast Distillery Company has adopted the 123Insight ERP system from Forterro to support its business expansion and regulatory compliance needs.
The move comes as the producer of McConnell's Irish Whisky accelerates its operations from its base at the historic Crumlin Road Gaol in Belfast. As the company experiences significant growth, there is a need for a scalable system that can consolidate key processes and data into a single, accessible platform.
Joanne Paffey, Supply Chain Controller at Belfast Distillery Company, commented on the choice of 123Insight as the new ERP solution. "As part of our improvement programme, we needed a solution that would promote transparency, collaboration and efficiency across all departments," said Paffey. "123Insight's features, especially its traceability and ability to handle complex units of measure, make it ideal for a business operating in the alcohol production sector."
Paffey brings two decades of experience using 123Insight in previous roles, and her familiarity with the system facilitated a swift implementation process at Belfast Distillery Company, with the company moving to the new system within a matter of weeks.
The implementation was supported by Forterro's service network and the local reseller QMS Insight, based in Carrickfergus, which provided tailored on-site training to the distillery team. Additional assistance came from our partner, Solweb Ltd, which helped develop comprehensive reports that consolidate sensitive business information from various sources.
Following the transition to 123Insight, internal reaction to the system has been positive. Paffey noted, "The feedback internally has been excellent. Colleagues say I make it look easy, but the truth is it's the power and efficiency of 123Insight. It simplifies complex tasks, reduces manual effort and has a massive impact on productivity."
The 123Insight ERP system is designed for manufacturing businesses, with a focus on traceability —a necessary feature in the regulated alcohol production sector. The centralised nature of the platform connects workflows and automates processes, aiming to drive productivity and support commercial growth.
Laurent Delorme, 123Insight Line of Business Managing Director at Forterro, spoke about the alignment between the Belfast Distillery Company's requirements and the solution on offer. "The Belfast Distillery Company is readying itself for growth and 123Insight is a system ideally suited to its needs," said Delorme. "123Insight empowers teams with real-time access to data and has traceability features that make it perfect for regulated industries such as alcoholic drinks distillery."
The selection and successful implementation of 123Insight are set to play a role in supporting Belfast Distillery Company's ongoing growth and its ability to meet sector-specific regulatory requirements.
