BeyondTrust has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management, the eighth consecutive edition in which it has received that designation.

The cybersecurity company was also positioned highest among vendors for Ability to Execute, the second consecutive report in which it has held that placement.

Privileged access management tools help organisations control and monitor access to sensitive systems and accounts. The category has become more prominent as companies seek tighter oversight of human users, machine identities and newer forms of automated access.

BeyondTrust has been expanding its Pathfinder platform to address those areas. Recent additions it highlighted include products for AI agent security, non-human identity governance and workload credentials, alongside PathfinderAI and its MCP Server.

Those products build on its established privileged access management software and are designed to help customers discover, govern and secure both human and non-human identities. The company also linked the latest recognition to more than two decades of work in the privileged access market.

Janine Seebeck, Chief Executive Officer of BeyondTrust, said the ranking reflected changes in how privileged access is used across enterprise systems.

"For more than 20 years, BeyondTrust has focused on one of the most consequential challenges in cybersecurity: controlling privilege and the access and authority that come with it. Today, human users are joined by non-human identities and autonomous AI agents that can access systems, exercise privilege, and take action at machine speed. We believe being named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for PAM for the eighth consecutive report, and positioned highest for Ability to Execute for the second consecutive report, reflects the strength of the foundation we've built. As the identities exercising privilege evolve, controlling that privilege becomes even more critical, but the fundamentals of securing privilege remain the same. That is why we believe a privilege-centric approach to identity security is essential for what comes next," said Janine Seebeck, Chief Executive Officer of BeyondTrust.

Market focus

BeyondTrust has sought to frame privileged access as the central issue in identity security, rather than identity management alone. That position reflects a broader industry shift as security teams deal with service accounts, application credentials and autonomous software agents alongside traditional employee logins.

It says it serves more than 20,000 customers, including 75 of the Fortune 100. Its product line centres on controlling elevated permissions, brokering remote access and reducing the number of standing privileged accounts within corporate environments.

Customer feedback

The announcement also pointed to user reviews posted on Gartner Peer Insights, including comments from customers in banking, manufacturing and government.

One review from a Manager in IT Security and Risk Management in banking said, "BeyondTrust has strengthened our control over privileged access by improving visibility, governance, and risk reduction across critical systems."

A separate review from an IT Associate in manufacturing said, "This product has excelled in helping us fix security vulnerabilities with how we handled local admin permissions for tasks such as installing and updating applications, and reducing our overall ticketing volume. Rather than having admin permissions/access assigned locally based on user role within the organization, we were able to overhaul the previous structure and manage admin permissions based on specific applications and processes [...]."

Another review from a Chief Information Officer in government said, "Our use of BeyondTrust for privileged access management has been seamless. The product is intuitive, easy to deploy, and works great to give third parties audited access to internal resources."

The latest ranking adds to a closely watched set of analyst assessments in the cybersecurity sector, where vendor position can influence procurement discussions among large enterprises and public sector buyers. In privileged access management, that scrutiny has intensified as organisations reassess how they secure administrator rights, service accounts and software-driven identities.

BeyondTrust's emphasis on non-human and AI-linked identities suggests where it sees the next phase of demand. Across the sector, vendors face pressure to show that systems built for traditional administrator access can also handle automated actors that interact with infrastructure at far greater speed and scale.
