BoodleBox named EdTech Start-Up of the Year at ETIH

BoodleBox has won the EdTech Start-Up of the Year award at the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026 and was highly commended in two other categories.
The programme drew more than 140 entries from companies, institutions and organisations across the UK, the Americas and other international markets.
BoodleBox operates a collaborative artificial intelligence workspace used across more than 1,300 colleges and universities. It was also highly commended in Best AI-Powered EdTech Solution and Higher Education Innovation.
The judging panel assessed entries on innovation, evidence of impact, adoption, scalability and how well each product addressed practical challenges in teaching, learning, skills development and institutional change. The panel included specialists in education, technology, artificial intelligence, school leadership, workforce development and digital transformation.
Market context
The recognition comes as higher education institutions continue to assess how artificial intelligence tools can be introduced into teaching and learning with stronger oversight and clearer educational purpose. Universities and colleges have been weighing demand from staff and students against concerns about transparency, data handling and the role of AI in assessment and classroom work.
BoodleBox has positioned itself around collaborative use of generative AI in education and workplace settings. Its platform is designed for group work and institutional use rather than individual consumer adoption. That distinction has become more important as education providers seek systems that fit existing governance and teaching practices.
BoodleBox recently integrated NVIDIA Nemotron, a family of AI models developed for business and education use. It has also raised USD $5 million in seed funding, adding to a period of expansion in the higher education market.
The Start-Up of the Year category recognises newer companies showing early traction, a defined market position and potential for longer-term growth. BoodleBox's performance across three categories suggests judges saw both commercial progress and relevance to the operational needs of colleges and universities.
Founder response
France Hoang, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at BoodleBox, commented on the company's position in the sector.
"Educators and students have been telling us since day one that AI in education needs to be transparent, collaborative and purpose-built for learning. That's what human-led AI actually looks like in practice. That has been our North Star," said Hoang.
He also addressed the award result directly.
"Being named by EdTech Innovation Hub as EdTech Start-Up of the Year in such a strong, growing field is a tremendous honor, and it affirms that what we're building is genuinely moving the needle for institutions and learners alike," said Hoang.
The company's growth reflects a broader shift in educational technology spending towards tools that can show measurable uptake and a clear institutional use case. In the current market, schools and universities are under pressure to justify AI-related investment not only in terms of novelty but also in terms of outcomes, staff acceptance and operational fit.
That has reshaped the field for start-ups selling into education. Providers now face closer scrutiny from procurement teams and academic leaders, particularly on whether products can be deployed at scale, support policy compliance and serve distinct teaching and administrative functions.
Against that backdrop, awards focused on adoption and measurable impact carry particular weight for younger companies seeking to stand out in a crowded market. ETIH's judging criteria emphasised practical implementation as well as innovation, mirroring how many institutions are evaluating new AI systems.
BoodleBox says its platform is used in environments spanning teaching, learning and work. Its footprint across more than 1,300 colleges and universities gives it a sizeable base in a market where many AI-focused education companies are still at the pilot stage.
The award recognises early traction, a clear vision and strong positioning for long-term success, according to BoodleBox.
