Epicor names Vaibhav Vohra as Chief Executive Officer
Tue, 11th Aug 2026 (Today)
Epicor has appointed Vaibhav Vohra as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Steve Murphy, who will remain on the board.
The change will take effect at the close of Epicor's fiscal year. Vohra takes over following a board-led succession process that began when he was named President in 2024.
Vohra joined Epicor in 2021 as Chief Product Officer and later became President and Chief Product and Technology Officer. He oversaw product strategy, development, management and design, and played a central role in the company's work on cloud, artificial intelligence and data systems.
Before joining Epicor, he held product leadership roles at Gecko Robotics and SAP. His promotion is part of a planned leadership transition rather than an abrupt management change.
Jeff Hawn, Chair of Epicor's Board of Directors, said the appointment reflected the board's confidence in Vohra's track record and in the company's broader direction.
"Vaibhav is a proven leader with deep experience in enterprise software, and I am confident he is the right person to lead Epicor into its next chapter," Hawn said.
"On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Steve for his outstanding leadership at Epicor and the strong foundation he leaves in place," he added.
Internal successor
The decision signals continuity at a software group serving manufacturing, distribution and retail-focused sectors. By choosing an internal executive who has held senior product and technology roles, the board has signalled that it intends to maintain the company's current direction while shifting day-to-day control to a leader more closely tied to its product agenda.
Vohra described the move as part of a broader period of change in business software and pointed to the importance of customers, employees and partners in Epicor's next phase.
"I am honored to lead Epicor as we enter a new era of transformation across enterprise software. Over the past five years, I've seen firsthand the people, customers, and partners that make this company special. Our focus remains on helping our customers grow and succeed in an increasingly dynamic world," Vohra said.
"I want to thank Steve for his exceptional leadership and for all he has done to position Epicor for continued success," he added.
Murphy will step down as Chief Executive Officer but remain a board member.
Murphy's tenure
During Murphy's tenure, Epicor said it expanded its software business and increased recurring revenue to more than USD $1 billion annually. The company also expanded further into cloud-based software and made acquisitions as it sought to deepen its presence in industry-focused enterprise resource planning.
Those details provide context for the board's emphasis on continuity. Rather than signalling a break from the previous strategy, Epicor described the transition as an orderly process designed to maintain support for customers, employees and partners.
Murphy said the timing reflected both the company's current performance and a settled strategy. He also highlighted Vohra's role in shaping Epicor's technology direction.
"It has been a privilege to serve Epicor and the talented team behind it," Murphy said.
"We've sharpened Epicor's focus on the customers and industries we serve, and I'm proud of what this team has accomplished. With the company performing well and a clear strategy in place, this is the right time for a change. Vaibhav has been instrumental in shaping our product and technology direction, and he is the right leader for what comes next," he added.
Epicor operates in the market for industry-specific ERP software, serving businesses involved in making, moving and selling goods. The company has increasingly tied its market position to software that combines traditional back-office systems with automation, data tools and artificial intelligence features, making product leadership a notable path to the Chief Executive Officer role.
The appointment puts an executive with direct oversight of products and technology at the top of the organisation as the software sector continues to adapt to demand for cloud-based systems and AI-related tools.
