Manchester fintech Conferma gains Great Place to Work status

Thu, 23rd May 2024

Conferma, the Manchester-based fintech known for its virtual payment technology, has secured the Great Place to Work certification on its first attempt. This accolade recognises the company's commitment to creating a supportive work environment aimed at shaping the future of the payments landscape, all from their headquarters in Manchester.

Recently, Conferma has experienced substantial changes, including a comprehensive rebrand and relocation to Towers Business Park in Didsbury. The fintech firm, which focuses on simplifying global commerce, continues to grow rapidly. It currently employs over 150 people and anticipates significant further growth within the next 12 months.

The certification is a testament to the positive and inclusive workplace culture that Conferma has cultivated. During the certification process, an impressive 89% of Conferma employees reported that it is a great place to work, far surpassing the typical average of 54% for UK companies. Additionally, 98% of employees agreed that all staff are treated fairly, regardless of race, sex, or sexual orientation.

Conferma offers its employees opportunities to collaborate with some of the largest and most innovative travel management companies, financial service providers, and corporations. This collaboration facilitates the development of world-class payments technology.

Sarah Burton, Conferma’s HR Director, expressed her delight at receiving the certification. “We’re delighted to have received the Great Place to Work Certification, even more so on our first time applying. What was especially encouraging to see was the extremely high employee experience scores. Our priority is to attract and retain the next innovators in the payments landscape to join our growing team, so obtaining this acknowledgement of why Conferma is a great place to work is perfect recognition,” she said.

Jason Lalor, Conferma's CEO, attributed the certification to the company's talented workforce. “The ground-breaking payments technology at Conferma is testament to the world-class talent we have. Over the last year, Conferma has undergone significant change in moving offices, rebranding and reworking our mission to make sure we are fit for the future. Receiving the Great Place to Work certification further shows the hard work has paid off,” he stated.

Looking forward, Lalor underscored the company’s ambitions of building on its strong foundation. “Over the next few years, we’re looking to build upon this strong foundation, powering a global payments ecosystem from the growing fintech hub of Manchester. The only way we’ll do that is by working with the best of the best and providing them with an energetic work environment to thrive,” he added.

Conferma was established in 2005 and has grown into a leading provider of virtual payments technology. Acquired by Sabre in 2022, with additional investment from Mastercard, the company has a mission to simplify payments for businesses globally. Conferma’s integration with major card schemes and connection to hundreds of travel management companies, online booking platforms, and card issuers reflects its extensive reach and impact in the financial technology sector.
