MaxMine expands into mining fleet management with AI

MaxMine has expanded into mining fleet management, adding a new business line for the Australian mining technology company.

The expansion includes business intelligence tools and AI-based decision support for mine operators, alongside a partnership with Sweden-based L5 Navigation to provide machine guidance using high-precision GPS.

The new fleet management system is designed to help mine operators improve productivity, reduce variability and lower cost per tonne. MaxMine is entering a market forecast to exceed USD $70 billion by 2030.

The partnership with L5 Navigation adds a machine control element to the launch. Under the arrangement, MaxMine will offer Machine Guidance, which uses GNSS receivers to identify the precise position of mining equipment, including drill rigs, diggers, dozers and wheel loaders.

The system also lets users view maps, surfaces and blocks in a synchronised 3D environment in real time. The machine guidance product will be integrated into Pulse, MaxMine's fleet management layer.

That integration is intended to give mining teams visibility over fleet location, payload, cycles, production status and operational performance. Data from the system will also feed into MaxMine's Impact product, used for improvement programmes across production, operators, safety, roads and asset health.

Growth push

The expansion marks a broader push beyond MaxMine's existing work in mining performance and operational analysis. The company says it has conducted more than 230 incident investigations, tracks and optimises more than 580 million tonnes a year, and has analysed more than 14 million hours of data.

Its customer list includes Glencore, Batchfire Resources, Mineral Resources, Coronado Global Resources, NRW Civil & Mining and Macmahon. That footprint gives MaxMine an entry point into mine sites already using digital tools to monitor production and operations.

Shaun Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of MaxMine, said the move was a natural next step for the company.

Operational data

Fleet management systems are used across mining operations to track the movement and status of heavy equipment, monitor production cycles and support dispatch decisions. Adding machine guidance links that function with positional data on equipment in the field.

For operators, the appeal is tighter visibility across daily activity on site. Companies in the sector have been investing in software and data systems that combine equipment information, production metrics and geospatial data in one operating layer.

MaxMine's move places it in a competitive part of mining technology, where software providers, original equipment manufacturers and specialist navigation firms offer tools aimed at improving site efficiency. The company is seeking to differentiate itself by combining fleet management with analytics and decision support built on operational data already gathered through its work with mining customers.

Machine Guidance is available now. The launch gives MaxMine a broader product set as mining groups continue to look for ways to improve output consistency and monitor equipment performance more closely.
