Mitel expands virtual care services to seven European countries
Mitel has announced the expansion of its Virtual Care and Collaboration Service (VCCS) to seven new European markets, including the United Kingdom. This platform aims to enhance the patient journey while addressing security, patient confidentiality, and scheduling challenges.
The VCCS platform features a range of functionalities designed to improve the experience of healthcare professionals and patients. It provides easy-to-use e-consultations, allowing healthcare providers and patients to engage in secure, multimodal experiences without the need to download any additional software. The platform supports voice and video calls, messaging, screen sharing, and file exchange.
It also enables integration with a variety of healthcare workflows, such as patient monitoring, community care, and augmented reality. This integration aims to save time and improve efficiency for healthcare professionals by allowing them to access more information within a single interface. During in-patient stays, the VCCS services can be extended to the patient's bedside through bedside terminal integration, enhancing the hospital experience.
Elka Popova, Vice President and Senior Fellow at Frost & Sullivan, commented, "Increasing demand for seamless and efficient patient care is compelling healthcare organisations to adopt advanced communications and collaboration solutions that can be strategically integrated into healthcare workflows. Unlike traditional business process app integrations, Mitel's VCCS offers a comprehensive approach that enhances every touchpoint in the patient journey, from initial contact to follow-up care."
The platform also maintains security by integrating with secure patient record systems, ensuring patient confidentiality through robust protocols. Data remains accessible only to authorised healthcare professionals.
Mitel's VCCS can be implemented according to the specific needs of healthcare providers, whether they require on-premise, private, or public cloud, or a hybrid model. This flexibility offers customers a wide range of deployment options.
Martin Bitzinger, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Mitel, noted, "The VCCS platform balances better patient experiences with improved operational efficiency for healthcare providers. It is designed to enhance the patient journey at every juncture by providing seamless integration with existing workflows, enabling high-quality multimodal patient interactions, and, importantly, it can be used with any technology. Mitel recognises the healthcare industry's need for agility, flexibility, and resilience at scale, and the VCCS platform is purpose-built to securely empower these factors without compromising patient care."
The VCCS platform is built to optimize healthcare experiences by addressing the growing financial and resourcing pressures faced by healthcare providers worldwide. By providing secure and compliant interactive digital solutions, VCCS aims to support healthcare providers and insurers in delivering improved patient-centric care.
The service will initially roll out in the UK, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, and Switzerland, with plans for global expansion within the third quarter of this year.
