Thu, 27th Jun 2024

OVHcloud has announced the launch of its new state-of-the-art dedicated Bare Metal Advance servers powered by the latest AMD EPYC 4004 Series processors. This development marks the introduction of the third generation of advanced dedicated servers.

The new servers aim to enhance performance at both the CPU and network levels. OVHcloud has positioned itself as the first provider to offer this level of advanced performance in accessible servers, targeting small and medium businesses. The company has enhanced these servers with a high-performance private network. According to the announcement, combining these innovations ensures that ADV-Gen3 Bare Metal servers offer an optimal performance-to-price ratio.

OVHcloud emphasises the significant improvements brought by the AMD EPYC 4004 Series processors, which utilise the AM5 platform. The company aims to empower various customers, including small and medium organisations. The third-generation Advance Bare Metal servers' pricing starts at EUR €84.99 per month, offering robust performance at what OVHcloud describes as a unique price point.

The new servers leverage the AMD Zen 4 micro-architecture, featuring up to 16 cores and 32 threads to handle demanding workloads. OVHcloud also announced a 24-core, 48-thread variant powered by AMD EPYC 8224P processors for the ADV-5 model. Available in multiple configurations, these servers are tailored for various use cases such as web hosting, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions, containerisation, virtualisation, databases, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, and storage and archiving.

John Morris, Corporate VP of the Enterprise and HPC Business Group at AMD, stated, "We are thrilled to collaborate with OVHcloud on Bare Metal dedicated servers powered by AMD EPYC processors. Leveraging the same powerful technology trusted by major data centres, AMD EPYC 4004 Series processors are designed for affordability, empowering small and medium businesses to achieve greater success."

Yaniv Fdida, Chief Product and Technology Officer at OVHcloud, added, "We are incredibly excited to announce our first Bare Metal dedicated servers featuring the latest AMD EPYC processors bringing excellent Zen 4 performance at an amazing performance-price ratio. We can't wait for the market to show us what exciting solutions can be built with the third generation of OVHcloud Advance servers."

The baseline storage for the ADV-1 model starts with 2x 960 GB SSD (NVMe) and a configuration of 6 cores / 12 threads powered by the AMD EPYC 4244P, along with 32 GB of DDR5 memory. The configuration can scale up to 16 cores / 32 threads in the ADV-4 model, which comes with AMD EPYC 4584PX, 128MB of L3 cache memory, and 64 GB of DDR5 memory. The ADV-5 model, featuring a 24-core / 48-thread AMD EPYC 8224P processor, starts with 96 GB of DDR5 memory. The ADV-STOR model has an 8-core / 16-thread AMD EPYC 4344P processor and substantial built-in storage starting at 2x 22 TB (HDD), which can be ramped up to 8x 22 TB (HDD).

The ADV-Gen3 Bare Metal servers come with public bandwidth options ranging from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps and up to 5 Gbps of unmetered private bandwidth. OVHcloud has also integrated features for optimal flexibility, control, performance, and availability. To ensure unbroken business operations, OVHcloud’s new ADV-Gen3 servers benefit from a private network built with enhanced redundancy, facilitated by two 25 Gbps links.

OVHcloud also prioritises data protection and sustainability in its new ADV-Gen3 Bare Metal servers. These servers adhere to high security and data protection standards, including ISO 27001 certification. Specific data centres are certified with HDS, contributing to what OVHcloud describes as a trusted Cloud solution. The company's data centres utilise a unique industrial model featuring a water-cooling system to support environmentally friendly operations.

The new OVHcloud ADV-Gen3 Bare Metal servers will initially be available in OVHcloud’s data centres in Gravelines and Roubaix, France, Limburg, Germany, and Vint Hill, United States. More global availability is expected in the forthcoming months.
