ScotlandIS celebrates tech pioneers at 2024 Digital Tech Awards

ScotlandIS, the organisation representing Scotland's digital technologies industry, celebrated groundbreaking technological advancement in various sectors at the 2024 Digital Tech Awards. The event, staged in Glasgow, recognised companies and individuals from a plethora of industries, including AI, cyber security, financial services, and electric vehicles (EV).

The ceremony saw 11 winners emerging from an impressive pool of more than 100 entries, following evaluation by an expert panel from within the Scottish tech sector. Lupovis, a network security and threat detection specialist, won the first Cyber Trailblazer award. Meanwhile, loveelectric and IOMA Renewable Intelligence, firms dedicated to promoting green technology, bagged awards for Start-Up of the Year and Service Innovation, respectively.

Dayshape, a noteworthy innovator in artificial intelligence, earned the Enterprise Business of the Year award. Not to overlook one of the major highlights of the evening, Ewan Robertson, a software engineer at Morgan Stanley, was bestowed with the honour of Digital Tech Rising Star.

The diverse range of winners generally reflected the innovation and progress within the Scottish technological sector. Karen Meechan, ScotlandIS CEO, stated, "It is always inspiring to see the work being done by those determined to push our industry forward." She added that the entries for this year "have been some of the strongest we have seen, with each of the nominees impressing the judges in their own way."

Meechan suggested that the success stories celebrated during the ceremony could serve as a source of inspiration for individuals working towards similar achievements within the sector over the next year. She further accentuated the pride associated with the Scottish tech sector, remarking, "Over time we have cultivated an ecosystem that has promoted and supported the growth of Scottish technology businesses, despite an economic environment that has, at times, been fairly hostile."

Other winners from the night include NEONHIVE for Tech for Good, hyble for Product Innovation, FreeAgent for Best Wellbeing at Work, Bellrock Technology for Data Trailblazer, Pogo Digital Healthcare for Public Sector Innovation, and Utopi identified as the Scale-Up Business of the Year.

With a diverse range of winners spanning AI, cyber security, green technology, and more, the event underscored the sector's commitment to pushing boundaries and driving progress.
