Telehouse employees raise GBP £6,000 in London 10K run

Tue, 6th Aug 2024

A team of 25 employees from Telehouse participated in the Saucony London 10K run, raising GBP £6,000 for two local charities, First Love Foundation and Leaders in Community, located in Tower Hamlets.

Telehouse has consistently supported local initiatives, particularly in regions where it has operations. The recent funds raised from the 10K event aim to aid the essential work conducted by these two charities.

First Love Foundation began as a foodbank and has since broadened its scope to address deeper issues of poverty and crisis. It offers rapid, person-centred support to help individuals get back on track, such as halting wrongful evictions, assisting domestic abuse victims, and helping reclaim benefits. The charity’s model is increasingly shared with other food banks to amplify their impact.

Leaders in Community concentrates on empowering young people in Tower Hamlets, one of the most deprived areas in London. Through programmes in Youth Leadership and Youth Social Action, the charity equips young individuals with the skills and opportunities needed to overcome challenges, build careers, and positively contribute to their community. The organisation is peer-led, with a significant portion of its committee members being young people who have personally benefited from its initiatives.

Besides the recent run, Telehouse is also collaborating with both charities on other initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents in Tower Hamlets. These efforts support the charities in expanding their services and reaching more individuals in need.

Mark Pestridge, Executive Vice President & General Manager at Telehouse Europe, stated: “At Telehouse, we strongly believe in giving back to the communities we are part of. Our participation in the London 10K and our ongoing support for First Love Foundation and Leaders in Community reflect our dedication to making a positive difference. By supporting these organisations, we aim to address immediate needs and contribute to long-term community resilience. This aligns with our broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, which emphasises community engagement and social inclusion.”

Telehouse's participation in the Saucony London 10K run, alongside its ongoing support for local charities, underscores the company's dedication to corporate social responsibility. By actively contributing to initiatives that address pressing social issues in Tower Hamlets, Telehouse is playing a vital role in fostering positive change in the community. These efforts reflect a broader commitment to community engagement and social inclusion, aligning with the company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy.
