XPO Logistics secures UK partnership with TotalEnergies
XPO Logistics, a provider of sustainable, end-to-end logistics solutions in Europe, is partnering with TotalEnergies in the UK to enhance operational efficiencies. This follows XPO's successful acquisition of the partnership via an intensely competitive tender process.
The long-term contract between the two entities will underscore efforts to optimise operational effectiveness and upgrade customer delivery experiences. As part of the agreement, XPO will provide all-encompassing services, including inbound transportation, shared user warehousing with value-added services, and outbound distribution. The latter will aim at transporting packaged lubricants from TotalEnergies' production bases to its customer base in the UK.
The logistical components include full truckload freight (FTL) from France, Belgium, and the UK, customs brokerage, and shared user network distribution. XPO's UK base is in Ferrybridge, West Yorkshire, and the logistics giant already works with TotalEnergies in France and Iberia. Together with its business in Europe, XPO serves approximately 50,000 customers with 563 locations and 38,000 employees.
Chris Wall, the Supply Chain and Strategy Manager of TotalEnergies' Lubricants Division, expressed satisfaction with partnering with XPO Logistics. He highlighted XPO's status as a top provider of comprehensive logistics services for packed lubricants, which was a significant factor in selecting them after a thorough evaluation process.
Chris Wall said, "We are delighted to be working with XPO Logistics, who is a leading provider of integrated logistics services of packed lubricants, a key factor in our decision to choose XPO as our partner after a competitive tender process. Both companies also share a culture of safety, continued innovation with a commitment to sustainable solutions."
In a significant move, TotalEnergies will benefit from a multi-client warehousing solution at one of XPO's strategic locations in the Midlands. XPO will also bring state-of-the-art technology solutions to the partnership that will enhance customer experiences. Their planned inclusion of XPO Connect will increase TotalEnergies' power efficiency. XPO's distribution proficiency, backed by the UK's largest in-house ADR network, caters to chemical, lubricant, and construction products.
Dan Myers, Managing Director for UK and Ireland at XPO Logistics, viewed the partnership positively. He said, "TotalEnergies is a leader in safety, quality and innovation in the packed lubricants sector; working in partnership, we will bring the same standards and approach to the provision of logistics services."
XPO Logistics' services are buoyed by innovative offerings, including technology-driven truckload, less-than-truckload, truck brokerage, managed transport, last mile, and freight forwarding services. They adjust their solutions according to specific customer needs across consumer, trade, and industrial sectors and high-profile events.
