Zayo Europe expands network reach with 61% growth in H1 2025
Zayo Europe has reported a 61% increase in powered route miles during the first half of 2025 compared to the second half of 2024.
The expansion has taken place across Europe, highlighted by significant increases in the United Kingdom and Germany, where powered route miles rose by 241% and 173% respectively in H1 2025. Zayo Europe cited the value of its partnership with GasLINE as a contributing factor to the strong performance in Germany.
This period marks continued growth for Zayo Europe following its independence in 2024, with a strategic focus on pan-European connectivity and the integration of complex network infrastructure across different nations.
Data centre connections
Central to Zayo Europe's operations is its aim to connect a wide variety of data centres throughout the continent. As of H1 2025, the company now connects 600 data centres. The role of such infrastructure is described as critical to powering technologies used by businesses, large enterprises, and consumers each day.
Zayo Europe has also expanded its workforce by 10% during the same period. The company noted that these new hires were spread across multiple areas, including delivery, service, finance, and people management, reflecting operational growth alongside network expansion.
Further expansion
Looking ahead, Zayo Europe stated that growth is expected to continue. The company recently completed the full acquisition of the Emerald Bridge subsea cable, which supplies G.652D dark fibre and high-capacity wave services between the UK and Dublin, Ireland.
Colman Deegan, Chief Executive Officer at Zayo Europe, described the first half of the year as pivotal.
"We always viewed H1 2025 as a pivotal period for Zayo Europe, marking a full year since we established ourselves as an independent entity. While growth has always been a key success metric, the pace at which our best-in-class fibre infrastructure is now connecting data centres and points of presence across major European markets is especially encouraging as we look ahead to the remainder of 2025 and beyond."
Deegan also commented on the impact of the expanded network for customers:
"Our continued network expansion not only enhances our service capabilities but also empowers our customers with greater reach, flexibility, and resilience, enabling them to scale operations, optimise performance, and react to evolving demands with confidence."
He credited the team's efforts for the success achieved so far in 2025:
"The growth achieved so far this year is testament to the strength and dedication of our team at Zayo Europe. Service excellence is in our DNA and is frequently cited as a driving force behind our ability to secure new partnerships and mission-critical connectivity projects. That said, we're not standing still. We're aiming to continue this momentum throughout the rest of the year and well into 2026."
Alongside network and operational growth, Zayo Europe highlighted its aim to support telecom service providers, cloud providers, data centres, system integrators, and enterprise clients. The company's network, as of July 2025, spans over 2.3 million kilometres of fibre, includes seven subsea cables, and connects 17 metropolitan markets in eight European countries.
Its focus remains on connectivity solutions that address the increasing demands for bandwidth, security, and reliability in business operations throughout Europe.
