Bixolon & Isitec boost logistics traceability printing

BIXOLON Europe has supplied Isitec International with an integrated label printing system aimed at improving traceability in customers' logistics operations.

Implemented by EUTRONIX, the system links BIXOLON's XD5-40dK direct thermal label printers with Isitec's Isitrac traceability software. Labels are generated and printed automatically when a parcel is registered, removing the need for intermediary applications.

Founded in Lyon in 2002, Isitec provides logistics automation and intralogistics systems. The new setup forms part of its offer to customers managing mail and logistics processes where uninterrupted printing is central to daily operations.

The rollout combines the printers with BarTender Seagull drivers for Windows environments. The aim was to create a standardised printing approach that could work across different customer infrastructures, including varied workstations, servers and network arrangements.

Printing is a critical point in warehouse and parcel workflows because any disruption can affect registration, traceability and dispatch activity. Isitec wanted equipment that could be deployed quickly, maintained at scale, and used in both local and networked environments.

Deployment model

The integration was designed to keep installation straightforward, with driver setup and configuration intended to support faster deployment across sites. Standardising the hardware also reduces compatibility problems and print stability issues while making support easier to manage.

More than 100 printers have been deployed so far. The installation has been used across customer logistics environments where labels need to be produced consistently as part of parcel handling and traceability procedures.

For Isitec, the project also adds a hardware layer to its software-led traceability offer. The company operates through subsidiaries in Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, the Czech Republic, Tunisia and Turkey, and works with large companies, public bodies and postal operators on intralogistics and warehouse automation projects.

Traceability focus

The project reflects a broader push by logistics and intralogistics providers to tighten traceability around parcels, internal mail and goods movements. In these settings, label printing is often the trigger for downstream processes, including sorting, routing and audit trails.

By tying printing directly to parcel registration within the Isitrac environment, the system is intended to reduce manual steps at the point where data is captured. That matters particularly in mixed IT estates, where differences in operating systems, network architecture and peripheral devices can create support burdens.

BIXOLON Europe said printer stability and compatibility were key considerations in the deployment. The company manufactures receipt, label, mobile and Auto ID printers used across sectors including retail, hospitality, healthcare, banking, ticketing, parcel handling and warehousing.
