DocuWare has unveiled a broad set of updates across its document management and workflow software, including a new user interface, an AI assistant, and enhancements to document processing and e-invoicing tools.

The company presented the changes at its EMEA partner gathering in Berlin, attended by 900 partners from 40 countries. The rollout is due to continue through autumn 2026.

Among the updates is a redesigned DocuWare client with a mobile companion. The new interface is based on WCAG, a widely used standard for digital accessibility.

DocuWare also introduced DocuWare Aura, an AI companion that gives users direct access to DocuWare file cabinets. Users will be able to search documents, summarise information, and compare content stored in files.

Aura will be available to all DocuWare Cloud customers within the new DocuWare environment, placing the AI tool at the centre of a broader product refresh rather than positioning it as a standalone service.

Document processing

The update also covers DocuWare IDP, the company's intelligent document processing product. The revised version supports both Classic Extraction and a GenAI-based Zero Shot Extraction option.

Classic Extraction is positioned as the more established route, aimed at users who want tighter control and predictable outcomes. Zero Shot Extraction is designed to work without prior training, using customer data and feedback to improve results over time.

AI-based extraction and information processing now supports OCR in 20 languages, a move intended to help customers automate document capture in local business languages across different markets.

DocuWare has also added Master Data Matching to IDP. The feature lets users compare document data with master data from other sources to clean up records or enrich information before it is used in business systems.

Invoicing and integrations

DocuWare's E-Invoicing Service is already available in some European markets and is continuing to expand across the region. The service allows users to connect to different networks to send and receive electronic invoices.

Another addition is the new DocuWare Integration Platform, embedded into the software to support standard integrations with third-party systems including ERP and CRM applications.

The platform is designed to let customers configure integrations through a guided process, reflecting a broader effort to make software connections easier to set up within the core product.

DocuWare is a longstanding supplier of document management and workflow automation software. It works with more than 800 partners and says it serves about 21,000 customers in more than 100 countries.

The company is headquartered in Germering, Germany, and also has operations in the US, UK, France, Spain, Bulgaria, and Australia. Its partner network remains a key route to market, helping explain why the product changes were presented first to the channel.

Chief Executive Officer Dr Michael Berger linked the updates to the company's broader technology strategy.

"Innovation is at the heart of our long-term strategy. The strategic investments of recent years are now paying off - and coming together at this very moment. AI, UX and other key technology-based advancements represent a significant step forward for our product portfolio and reflect our commitment to delivering reliable digital solutions that make a real difference. That's exactly what we mean when we say: Delivering the Future," said Berger.
