Lenovo honoured for disability inclusion in UK, US & Brazil
Lenovo has been recognised as a "Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion" by the Disability Index in the United States, United Kingdom and Brazil for 2025.
This marks Lenovo's fifth consecutive year being honoured in the United States, and the second for both the United Kingdom and Brazil. The recognition is based on the Disability Index, which is widely regarded as the most comprehensive benchmarking tool for measuring workplace disability inclusion, encompassing six core performance indicators: Culture & Leadership, Enterprise-Wide Access, Employment Practises, Community Engagement, Supplier Inclusion, and Responsible Procurement.
Calvin Crosslin, Chief Inclusion Officer at Lenovo, commented on the award, stating:
"At Lenovo, we believe disability talent brings unique perspectives, resilience, and creativity that are essential to driving innovation and shaping an inclusive culture. Being recognized once again by the Disability Index is a testament to this inclusive culture we're building every day. Through our global programs and employee resource groups like we are working to ensure that everyone can thrive at Lenovo and help us deliver on our mission to create smarter technology for all."
In the United Kingdom, Lenovo has undertaken several initiatives aimed at raising awareness and embedding disability inclusion into its workplace culture. At its offices in Farnborough and Glasgow, employees have had access to Autism Reality Experiences and Virtual Dementia Tours. These sessions are designed particularly for people managers to build understanding of the needs of different groups and encourage a more inclusive mindset amongst staff.
The company's global approach to disability inclusion is embodied by the Disability Advantage Initiative, which was launched two years ago. This programme, informed by a global self-assessment in partnership with the International Labour Organisation, has resulted in the creation of market-specific action plans and a global human resources task force. The initiative is aimed at raising awareness, building resources, and embedding accessibility and inclusion throughout Lenovo's workplaces worldwide. It focuses on developing new resources, challenging existing norms, and fostering a workplace environment where employees with disabilities can thrive.
In the United States, one of the most visible local efforts involved a collaboration between Lenovo's ABLE group and the LatinX Employee Resource Group, HOLA. In Raleigh, North Carolina, an event was organised in early 2025 where participants, including students from the Governor Morehead School for the Blind, took part in an adaptive dance group workout set to Latin music, both seated and standing. This initiative was aimed at increasing accessibility and physical engagement for people with disabilities.
In Brazil, Lenovo's Indaiatuba factory has established a "Be an Inclusive Buddy" programme. This scheme pairs new employees with disabilities with volunteer colleagues who provide daily practical guidance and support to help them integrate into the workplace more easily. The Buddy system is designed to promote both immediate and sustained inclusion and understanding in the work environment.
Lenovo states that these national and local programmes, alongside its broader global strategies, are central to driving lasting cultural change. The company highlights its commitment to continually improving disability inclusion across all operations.
The Disability Index serves as an independent benchmarking resource, tracking progress and highlighting best practices in disability inclusion for businesses across various sectors. For 2025, the Index evaluated companies on a global scale, with participation from firms operating in Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Japan, the Philippines, the United States and the United Kingdom.
The recognition received by Lenovo from the Disability Index is aligned with wider social governance strategies outlined in the company's annual Environment, Social and Governance Report.
