OutSystems announces winners of 2024 Innovation Awards

OutSystems has revealed the winners of its 2024 Innovation Awards and the Build for the Future Hackathon, celebrating significant achievements in low-code application development.

The participants included major international brands such as Bosch, HEINEKEN, and Toyota, who were recognised for their innovative use of OutSystems' platform. The awards highlight businesses using AI-powered low-code solutions to enhance operations and drive forward-thinking initiatives.

Bosch received the AI/Emerging Tech award for developing Skillinx, an AIoT platform that facilitates Human-Robot Collaboration, marking one of the initial steps towards Industry 5.0. This development significantly reduced Bosch's team ramp-up time for new assembly lines from four weeks to four days.

HEINEKEN was awarded in the High-Performance Team category. The company adopted a federated development model via OutSystems, allowing it to scale app development globally without compromising security and quality standards.

Toyota Motor Corporation was recognised in the Enterprise Digital Transformation category. Toyota has been using OutSystems since 2015 across 23 of its group companies, leveraging the platform for over 70 applications, facilitating a digital transformation that extends beyond mere legacy modernisation.

Additional notable winners included Banca Generali for Legacy Modernisation, EVOxCharge for Environmental Impact, HORNE for Social Impact, and Sport Lisboa e Benfica for Customer Experiences.

The Build for the Future Hackathon, which challenged developers to create impactful AI-powered software solutions for nonprofits, also announced its winners. Team Escala claimed first place with a mobile app designed to help children with autism engage with musical creativity.

The Hackathon's second place was awarded to Team tiramiSU for a platform that assists ex-prisoners with career guidance and mental health support. Meanwhile, Advancialist 2.0 and PhoenixDX Champions tied for third place with solutions for hearing-impaired students and emotional support for children, respectively.
