Persistent Systems partners with Microsoft for AI health solution
Persistent Systems has announced its latest partnership with Microsoft to launch a Generative AI-powered Population Health Management (PHM) Solution. The solution will identify Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) from Electronic Health Records (EHR) data, enabling personalised care recommendations and cost-effective interventions that could lead to a 60% reduction in hospital readmissions within 30 days.
The PHM Solution released by Persistent Systems uses Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and aims to ensure patients receive quality care at the right time and place while optimising both capacity and cost-effectiveness for healthcare providers and organisations. This innovative method utilises predictive risk modelling as a crucial tool to identify patients who are likely to require significant medical assistance.
The solution uniquely distinguishes itself by accurately extracting up to 80% of essential patient information from unstructured clinical notes contained within EHRs. Existing PHM solutions on the market have primarily depended on data from third parties or survey data. According to the announcement, Persistent's method aims to improve patient outcomes, offering more timely and intelligent care recommendations and boasting higher accuracy, improved scalability, and increased compliance.
Further, Persistent's PHM solution has features that assist physicians and caregivers in recommending personalised interventions through community-based programs and care management teams. These features aim to reduce hospital stays, readmissions, and visits to the emergency department. The solution has the potential to decrease 30-day readmissions by up to 60%, and continuously monitor correlations and outcomes to ensure quality patient engagement.
Persistent Systems and Microsoft have shared a partnership lasting for 32 years. With over 4,500 Microsoft-certified consultants and over 50 IPs and accelerators, Persistent is aiming to establish a resilient ecosystem, striving to offer solutions that improve health outcomes, reduce care costs, enrich patient experiences, and optimise operational efficiency.
Ganesh Nathella, Senior Vice President & General Manager – Global Lead, HLS Business, Persistent, said, "Addressing the causes of negative healthcare outcomes is increasingly understood as a critical component of any PHM program. With this innovative solution, built on Persistent's deep domain expertise and differentiated frameworks along with Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, we are identifying care access and health equity issues by optimising enterprise capacities and ensuring cost effectiveness."
David Rhew, M.D., Global Chief Medical Officer & Vice President of Healthcare at Microsoft, commented on the partnership, saying, "The goal of population health management is to improve the overall health of a population by applying cost-efficient interventions designed to promote better health for groups of individuals. Leveraging Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and Dynamics 365 Customer Insights to extract and track crucial SDoH data, Persistent's PHM Solution will yield personalised care recommendations and help reduce costs, ultimately contributing to enhanced care quality."
