Reolink launches E331 indoor smart camera with Argos
Home security brand Reolink has launched a new indoor Wi-Fi camera in the UK through an exclusive retail partnership with Argos, as competition in the low-cost smart home market intensifies.
The E331 Indoor WiFi Camera is on sale only through the catalogue and online retailer at launch. The device targets mainstream households that want video monitoring inside the home without an ongoing subscription cost.
Reolink has set the price at £39.99. The company positions the camera for use as a single unit or as part of a broader Reolink security set-up.
The launch extends Argos's range in smart home and security devices. Argos already sells a mix of own-brand and third-party connected products across video doorbells, indoor cameras and lighting.
Reolink describes the E331 as its first indoor model in this format. The device combines a compact, rounded design with Wi-Fi connectivity, app-based controls, and support for local video storage on a microSD card up to 256GB.
The camera records in 2K+ 5-megapixel resolution. The company states that this delivers higher-quality footage than standard high-definition devices.
The E331 includes pan-and-tilt motors. The camera can rotate to give 360-degree coverage of a room and can auto-track movement once it detects activity.
Infrared night vision supports monitoring in low light. Reolink quotes a range of up to 12 metres for night footage.
The device includes a microphone and speaker. Users can listen remotely and speak through the camera.
Reolink has built a set of on-device artificial intelligence functions into the camera. The system detects people and pets. It also detects crying sounds.
The company says this approach reduces false alerts from general motion and delivers more specific notifications for families and pet owners. Alerts arrive through the Reolink mobile app.
The app also includes Reolink's Privacy Mode. Users can pause video and audio recording with a single tap without unplugging the unit.
Reolink has focused on integration with broader smart home systems. The E331 works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
The company has also added support for Home Assistant. That platform has gained traction with technically minded users who want local control of smart home devices.
The E331 links into Reolink's existing app-based security ecosystem. That line-up includes indoor and outdoor cameras, video doorbells and floodlight cameras. It also spans wired Power over Ethernet devices, Wi-Fi models, 4G-connected units, and solar-powered options.
All devices in the range use the same Reolink app. Owners can view live feeds, review recorded clips and manage settings for multiple cameras across different locations in a home.
The company continues to promote a no-subscription model for its consumer hardware. Users can rely on local storage using microSD cards rather than mandatory cloud plans.
Smart home vendors have used different business models in recent years. Some sell cheaper hardware that relies on recurring subscription revenue. Others focus on local storage and one-off device purchases.
Reolink has pursued the latter model. It has reached a customer base comprising homes and small businesses across multiple markets.
The deal with Argos gives Reolink prominent exposure on UK high streets and through a large online channel. Argos operates as a major general retailer of consumer electronics, homeware, and toys.
Reolink sees design as a factor in expanding the indoor camera market. The company aims at households that want devices that sit more discreetly in living areas and bedrooms.
Simon Buckingham, UK&I Senior Marketing Manager at Reolink, said the new product reflects changing expectations among buyers of smart cameras.
"We know UK households want indoor cameras that are both functional and attractive. The E331 delivers exactly that - and we're proud to launch it exclusively with Argos, a name trusted by millions when it comes to smart home tech."
Reolink plans further development of its connected security line-up. The company continues to invest in visual technology and aims to broaden distribution in the UK market through retail and online partners.
