BackBox, a tech firm centred on network team automation, has announced remarkable growth in 2023 bolstered by product and leadership innovation. This development reflects the company’s dedication to improving network teams in combating growing network complexity and security requirements, the company states.
Last year, BackBox saw a 36% increase in new customers, and nearly half of existing clientele futher invested in the brand. This resulted in an impressive 80% YoY growth.
Additionally, the company had a significant presence in larger enterprises and demonstrated strong expansion in the North American market, with a surge of 175% more customers. These accomplishments were further validated by a robust net retention rate and a top-notch Net Promoter Score of 87 throughout 2023.

Among these developments, CEO, Josh Stephens, was particularly proud of the U.S. Army selecting BackBox’s Network Automation Platform for DISA STIG compliance automation.
In line with strategy to further enhance their offerings, BackBox launched the Network Vulnerability Manager (NVM), an innovative extension to the Network Automation Platform designed for efficient identification and prioritisation of CVEs as per specific risk portfolios. Further, the company released comprehensive CIS Compliance Automation Templates for Cisco, Check Point, and Fortinet to help uphold regulatory compliance and application of Golden Config templates.
The company expanded on its partnerships, announcing crucial collaborations and product integrations with CMS Distribution in the UK and Ireland, and Paessler AG, delivering a complete NOC stack for enterprise and MSP network operations teams.

In 2023, the BackBox leadership team expanded with key hires in sales, marketing, and finance to harness product momentum and scale the go-to-market strategy. Further strengthening the leadership team, Rita Selvaggi, former CEO of ActivTrak and CMO of AlienVault, joined the Board of Directors. BackBox also welcomed John Evarts as the new Chief Operating Officer, heralding a new wave of experience and oversight for the rapidly growing company.
