Nexer hires Matt Birtwistle to lead UK manufacturing push
Nexer Enterprise Applications has appointed Matt Birtwistle as Manufacturing Industry Lead in the UK, expanding its senior team as it targets growth in the manufacturing sector.
Birtwistle joins from HSO, where he worked on Microsoft-based ERP and digital transformation programmes for manufacturing organisations. Nexer Enterprise Applications focuses on Microsoft ERP, CRM and Power Platform work. It operates as part of the wider Nexer Group.
The company said Birtwistle brings more than 30 years' experience advising manufacturing organisations. His sector background includes engineering, chemicals, food and beverage, life sciences and automotive. Nexer said he has operated within the Microsoft partner ecosystem since the early 2000s.
Birtwistle has also held a senior role at Cognizant. Nexer said he led enterprise-scale transformation programmes across platforms including Microsoft Dynamics.
Sector focus
Nexer Enterprise Applications described UK manufacturing as complex and highly regulated. The company linked the appointment to demand for digital transformation projects across the sector. It cited rising costs, regulatory requirements and disruption.
In the role, Birtwistle will lead Nexer's manufacturing strategy in the UK. The company said his remit includes acquiring new manufacturing customers and expanding relationships with its existing manufacturing client base. Nexer also said he will take responsibility for aligning sales activity with delivery quality and long-term customer outcomes.

UK operations
Nexer Enterprise Applications operates as a family-owned business within the global Nexer Group. The group said it has over 1,500 specialists worldwide. Nexer Enterprise Applications works with mid-market and enterprise organisations on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform deployments. It also offers services that cover recovery and ongoing management of those systems.
Manufacturing organisations in the UK have invested in modernisation projects across finance, supply chain, production and customer operations over recent years. Many programmes have focused on replacing legacy ERP platforms and integrating data from across operations. Firms have also faced tighter scrutiny over traceability, security and compliance, alongside pressure on costs and delivery performance.
Nexer positioned the appointment as part of its efforts to grow its manufacturing practice in the UK. It said Birtwistle will work across sales and delivery activity in the sector.
